Gloria Kathreptis, known as "Gloria from Astoria", was born in Manhattan on Dec. 1, 1926. She and her brother Dean grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, until she married and moved to Astoria in 1957 where she raised her 3 children and has lived ever since. Gloria worked for the city of New York and loved her job as bookkeeper for Steinway Senior Center until she retired at age 76. She...
