Roberts Funeral Home, Bruce Chapel West
The Roberts family has always believed that families deserve unwavering respect and dignity during the entire funeral experience. And it is that family principle which has earned Roberts an unsurpassed reputation throughout Marion County. At Roberts Funeral Homes, we believe that every life is unique. The choices you make to celebrate that life can also be as unique and personalized as you wish. And for those interested in the benefits of planning their arrangements in advance, Roberts Funeral Homes and Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens offer The Simplicity Plan® prearrangement program, an easy way to handle an important family responsibility. Roberts Funeral Homes The first Roberts Funeral Home location had its beginning in 1898 when Mr. C.V. Roberts began operating a funeral home in conjunction with his furniture store in Ocala. As the population of Marion County grew and the call for funerals increased, the furniture store was phased out. In 1937, C.V. Roberts passed his funeral business to his son, Edgar S. Roberts. Edgar soon became a community pillar, giving generously to local charities and the arts. He took an active role in civic organizations, and maintained building the Roberts' image of "dignity and caring." The family tradition continued when the business passed to Terry S. Roberts, Edgar's son, in 1992. Following his father's example, Terry also became involved with community clubs and activities, especially youth events. He is an avid supporter of local agricultural and rodeo events, and twice chaired the Southeastern Youth Fair held annually in Ocala. In 1998, Roberts Funeral Home merged with three other funeral homes in Marion County. Bruce Ocala Funeral Home, founded by Roger Wayne Bruce, added two locations : one in east Ocala and the other in the rapidly growing area of west Marion County. Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens This perpetual care cemetery offers 40 acres of beautiful rolling countryside in southwest Ocala. Established during the 1960s, Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens offers ground burial, mausoleum entombment, lawn crypts and cremation niches plus monument and nonmonument sections. Good Shepherd currently has four mausoleums, two chapels and a meditation area. Private family plots and private family mausoleums are also available. The U.S. government offers very generous burial benefits to veterans, their spouses and their eligible children. Our staff takes pride in helping these families receive everything they deserve. The large Veterans Garden of Honor is one of our most popular sections.
