Dorothy J. Goomeer, 81, a resident of Russellville, went to be with her Lord Friday, August 15, 2008, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.
She was born August 3, 1927, at Russellville to Festus Hilliard Powell Sr. and Dortha Beatrice Jolley Powell Shofstall. She was a homemaker and member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her family and spending time with them. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great granddaughter, Eleanor Ann Yearta.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Mike Goomeer of Russellville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Keith Beck of Dover, Pam and Bobby Green of Russellville, and Phyllis and Robert Paul Leavell of Dover; a brother and sister-in-law, Fess and Dr. Brenda Powell of Hot Springs; four grandchildren and their spouses, Allison and Robbie Wiley of Dover, Beth and Aaron Yearta of Jonesboro, Ben and Missy Sears of Russellville, and Daniel Leavell of Dover; eight great grandchildren, Chase, Wade, and Jacob Wiley of Dover, Will, Audrey, and Gus Yearta of Jonesboro, and Matthew and CatLyn Sears of Russellville; and numerous cousins.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2008, at Shinn Chapel with Bro. Rocky Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh-Williamson Cemetery at Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Keith Beck, Bobby Green, Robert Paul Leavell, Robbie Wiley, Aaron Yearta, Ben Sears, and Daniel Leavell.
Visitation will be from 3 - 4 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Arkansas, 1818 N Taylor St # 186, Little Rock, Arkansas 72207.
