Joseph D. Duelk, Sr. 90 of Vero Beach, Florida, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, Florida
The son of the late Joseph & Margaret G. Hoffman he was born on July 16, 1918 in the Bronx.
Mr. Duelk was a former long time resident of the Monroe area, before moving to Vero Beach, Florida 5 ½ years ago.
Prior to his retirement he had worked for the MABSTOA (New York City Transit Authority), He was of the Catholic Faith and a Veteran of WW II, serving in the United States Army. He was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Duelk was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Joseph Duelk, Jr., Division 1 of Monroe, New York, and the American Legion Post # 488 in Monroe, New York.
Survivors include his four daughters Virginia Weihbrecht of Vero Beach, Florida, Mary Milko of Beltsville, MD, Ruth Matos of Middletown, NY, and Nancy Smith of Bloomingburg, NY; along with thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by his wife Helen B. Duelk and their son Joseph D. Duelk, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4th, 2009 during the hours of 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, 139 Stage Road, Mornoe, New York 10950.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 5th, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 42 Goshen Avenue, Washingtonville, New York 10992.
Burial will follow at the family plot in St. Mary's R.C. Church Parish Cemetery, 2 Fr. Tierney Circle, Washingtonville, NY
