Dedra Renee Watts, 49, of 217 Wayne Ave., Waynesboro, died at 12:55 A.M., Sunday, November 1, 2009, in the Hershey Medical Center. She had been in ill since 2006. Born July 1, 1960 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of Melvin E. and Wanda E. (Tasker) Watts of Waynesboro. She lived most of her life in the Waynesboro area. Dedra graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the class of 1978. She was currently employed at the Naval Medical Logistics Command at Fort Detrick, MD. Prior to Fort Detrick, she worked at New Cumberland Army Depot in New Cumberland, PA and Landis Tool Company in Waynesboro. Dedra was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Waynesboro. She was an avid speaker for cancer awareness for the Brownsville Study Group, Waynesboro Country Club. She also modeled for Cumberland Valley Breast Care Alliance in Chambersburg. She was an inspiration for many and had a host of friends. In addition to her parents, Dedra is survived by her son, Cory A. Young of Waynesboro; her sister, Cheryl D. Watts-Caldwell and her husband Jonathan L. Caldwell of Waynesboro; two nieces, Nichelle B. Watts and Taylor E. Watts of Waynesboro; one nephew, John Stoner, Jr.; her Aunt Donna Rae and Uncle Granville Washington of Brownsville, PA; her Aunt Kay "Poochie" Brown of Harrisburg; her Godson, Brett Purvis of Chambersburg; long time family friend Steve Graham; numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her extended family which includes the Gonzales's and Marianne Simmons. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William E. Watts and John Stoner; and her very special aunt, Blanche (Watts) Washington. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 6, 2009, in St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 30 West King Street, Waynesboro, with Pastor Marilyn A. Hubbard, officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Friday morning, in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 30 West King Street, Waynesboro, PA, 17268, or The Cumberland Valley Breast Care Alliance, 344 Leedy Way East, Chambersburg, PA, 17202.
