Marie E. Mills departed this life on Monday, November 2, 2009 at the St. Joseph's Hospital, Wayne, NJ. She was born in Paterson, NJ on August 31, 1947 to the late William E. Mills and Alma Boyd Mills. Maria was educated in the Paterson Public School System and was a graduate of Eastside High School. She also attended Rutgers University where she received her Certification as a Social Worker. She was employed by William Paterson University, Wayne, NJ as a Dietary Supervisor for many years. Prior to her illness, she was employed by Concerned Parents for Head Start, Paterson, NJ as a Social Worker where she enjoyed helping the "little" residents of Paterson. Marie knew the Lord and had a personal relationship with Him. At a young age, she was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, Paterson, under the leadership of Rev. Blake. She then became a member f Philmon Baptist Church under the leadership of her cousin, Rev. Joseph Calhoun, where she and her four sisters sang for the Lord in a group called The Mills Sisters. Before becoming ill, she joined the Gods Property Church under the leadership of Pastor L. Harley. Marie was a caring and compassionate person. She touched many lives by reaching out to lend a helping hand. Her door was always open to family and friends. Marie was easy-going and loved not only by her own children, but all children big and small. She was also a friend to many. When she made a friend, you were friends for life. Marie left our presence in the physical sense; but we can still feel her spirit around us, a rich legacy has been left to our family until we meet her again. She was predeceased by her parents, Alma and William Mills; two sisters, Lois Mills and Diane Jacobs; a brother, Robert Mills and a step-brother, William Carlo Mills. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Anita and Catrina Mills; two sons, Clarence and Steven Mills all of Paterson, NJ; two sisters, Joanne Crawley (William), and Ginger Thomas (Robert); two aunts, Mary Griffin and Helen Boyd; one uncle, Mack Mills; seventeen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, four step granddaughters, Annsharee Harrison, Argeree Willis, Kemona Harris and Kwansheda Mays; a lifetime friend, Peggy Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.
