Susan N. Blythe

Susan Chisolm Nicholson Blythe, widow of Lauriston Hardin Blythe, died November 19, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Susan Chisolm and Faust Nicholson.
Born in Charleston, SC on July 23, 1919, she moved to Greenville in 1929. She attended private school in Charleston and public schools in Greenville as well as Greenville Woman’s College (Furman University).
Surviving are two daughters, Anne Montague Blythe of Greenville, and Lauriston (Lauri) Blythe Furse of Manning; four grandchildren, Susan Edmonds Palmer, Thomas English Furse, Mark Lauriston Furse and Ladson Blythe Furse; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Blythe Edmonds and two brothers, Laurens Chisolm Nicholson and Faust Nicholson.
Mrs. Blythe was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and a former president of the Altar Guild. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Greenville, a member of the Assembly, and a past president and advisor to the Debutante Club of Greenville. She was active in community affairs and served on numerous boards throughout the years. She was a member and former chairman of the Greenville Committee of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of South Carolina, as well as the Quadrille Club, Tuesday Study Club, and Monday Book Club.
Services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church with the Rev. Harrison McLeod officiating. Visitation will follow the Service. Burial will follow in the Churchyard.
