Mark Joseph Ule, Age 62. Mr. Ule passed away at his home in Bay Village on Sunday April 25, 2010 after a five year battle with cancer. He and his wife Carol have been residents of Bay Village for the past 38 years, prior to that living 3 years in California.
Mr. Ule was born in Cleveland on December 4, 1947 to Joseph and Sylvia (nee Zakrajsek). He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Euclid, OH and earned his BS in Chemistry from John Carroll University.
He married Carol Ann Hricik in St. Mary’s Church in Bedford, OH on December 27, 1969.
Mark went on to teach Chemistry at Bay Village High School for 35 years after the three years he taught in California. He was most proud of his teaching career, especially his work with the advanced placement students. He was very sorry to have to retire in 2007 due to his illness.
Mark was an intellectual who enjoyed politics and classical music, always looking for something to stimulate his lifelong love of learning. He loved his yard and taking care of the landscaping. He enjoyed playing chess and is said to have been a heck of a softball player.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph. He is survived by his mother Sylvia of Richmond Hts., OH. He is also survived by his wife Carol Ule of Bay Village, OH, and two daughters, Susan McGennis and her husband Peter of Buffalo, NY, and Laura Anderson and her husband Scott of Bay Village, OH.
He was a loving grandfather to five grandchildren, Peter, William, and Claire McGennis, and Benjamin and Katherine Anderson.
He also is survived by siblings, Joseph Ule of Independence, MO, Peggy Taksar of Willoughby, OH, and Jack Ule of Richmond Hts., OH.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Mark J. Ule Memorial Fund to benefit the students of Bay High School. Donations may be forwarded to Bay High School, 29230 Wolf Road, Bay Village, OH 44140.
