Dorothy (Chase) Holmes, age 80, died on Saturday, September 24, 2011 in Kissimmee, Florida, after a short illness. Born in Waltham, MA, Dorothy was a long time resident of Brandywine Hundred and she became a permanent resident of Florida in 2008. She was a graduate of Boston University School of Nursing. She also served in hospitals in Connecticut, Hawaii and Pennsylvania. She was involved in many volunteer activities while living in Delaware. Dorothy spent many summers vacationing with her family and her extended family in Chatham and E. Harwich, Cape Cod. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Arthur J. Holmes. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Coleman and her husband Robert of Kissimmee, FL and her brother, Malcolm Chase and his wife Pat of Middlebury, VT. She will be dearly missed by her son Richard and his wife Brenda of Wilmington; two daughters, Cynthia of Wilmington and Denise and her husband John of Clermont, FL; and her two grandchildren, Chase and Caitlyn. You are invited to attend Dorothy's funeral service on Tuesday, October 4th at 11 am at BRANDYWINE VALLEY FUNERAL CARE, BEESON CHAPEL, 412 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809. Family will begin to receive guests starting at 10 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions, to the ARC of Delaware, 2 S.
