Helen Claire Scheumann Kehret passed from this life peacefully, Thursday, January 5, the twelfth day of Christmas, at UVA hospital. Helen and her husband Dave came to Virginia ten years ago, drawn by Helen's love of the Blue Ridge and Charlottesville area.
Helen was born on October 8, 1943, in Omaha, Nebraska. A graduate of the University of Nebraska (and a life-long Huskers fan), she had a career of teaching, public relations/marketing, and ministry with her husband, most recently with Lutheran congregations in Maryland, Virginia, and now Charlottesville.
Helen was preceded into God's eternal keeping by her parents Carl Jacob Scheumann and Georgia Louise Jorn Scheumann, as well as by her son Timothy Mark Kehret and daughter Rebecca Christine Kehret.
She is survived by her husband David, her son and daughter-in-law Matthew and Erin Kehret, and her sister and brother-in-law Chris and Walt Vosika.
God's grace and continued faithfulness to Helen will be remembered and celebrated at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2416 Jefferson Park Avenue, Charlottesville, on Tuesday, January 10, 4:00 p.m.
Because of Helen's long love and commitment to proper stewardship of the earth, in lieu of flowers memorials to Immanuel's Garden Project or to the national Arbor Day Foundation (www.arborday.org) are invited.
