Harry Charles Mitchell, 82, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away April 24, 2012, in his home. A native of Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John and Gertrude Mitchell. He retired from the US Marine Corps after 30 years of service, Civil Service after 20 years of service, and also from the Virginia Beach Public Schools. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, the Widowed Persons of Chesapeake, The VFW of Ocean View, Lynnhaven Masonic Lodge #220 AF&AM and the Honda Gold Wing Riders Chapter B. He is survived by his wife, Virginia L. Mitchell; two daughters, Sherry L. Harrison of Illonis and Cindy R. Wiles of New Hampshire; three sons, Norman L. Mitchell, Charles T. Mitchell and Timothy W. Mitchell, all of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Ada R. Hatcher of California and Mary Ann Bunch of Norfolk, VA; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 12 Noon at Rosewood Memorial Park with Rev. David Libengood officiating. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
