This is about Jeffery Gene Vollmer’s life, at least the one I knew. We'd love to hear what stories, love and life he had with you. Please contact us if you have pictures you'd like to add to the Gallery as well.
I had the privilege of having Jeff as my brother for a short 47 years. Jeff was born and raised in Stockton California to Ron and Betty Vollmer, July 12, 1961. Jeff was the curious type, I think from day one he wanted to know the whys of things and life. We shared a home on La Jolla Drive, went to John Tyler for one year then were bused to Martin Luther King, then off to Webster for middle school and then to Stagg Sr. High where he graduated with the class of 1979. Jeff tried many things, constantly investigating something different. Our home was always filled with kids, whether including Mike Noriega, Niki Keyser, Paul Alverez, Ralph Martin, Matt Dinkle, Vern Smith or all of my friends that Jeff was always in the middle of. Barbara Campos, Dawn Cochran, Veronica Perez just to name a few. I would have a slumber party and Jeff would be in the middle of all us, to my chagrin.
My father and mother divorced and not too far in the future we met our step-father Roger Crawford who has been a wonderful guide and person in his life. Our biological father stayed in Jeff’s life but passed away on Dec 5, 2005. Jeff has a step brother KC Crawford and a step sister Cary.
Jeff had the single life while going to and graduating from San Joaquin Delta College with an AA in Mechanical Engineering Tech. He soon went to work for Lawrence Livermore laboratories. Life changed when he met Lisa Feldman. She was the one for him they eventually got married and had a beautiful son Tyler Preston Vollmer, a child so much like himself, full of curiosity and intelligence with that wonderful compassion. A couple of years later he and Lisa had a beautiful daughter Morgan Vollmer. Jeff loved motorcycle riding, had a home full of little critters and there was always something happening at the Vollmer residence. I’m hoping his kids and Lisa will tell you more about what Jeff’s life was about with them.
Lisa and Jeff divorced and Jeff maintained a long distance relationship with his kids traveling to Florida at least once every other month and most holidays. I know he talked with Tyler on a daily basis.
Jeff changed his career a few times but his heart was always in the sales scene. I’d listen to him on the phone so many times and he was a true professional.
When Jeff moved to Rancho Cordova for what I thought would be a great change of pace, he found happiness in living near the American River and having a great pub across the way that dearly loved him.
Jeff met Elizabeth who is and was special to him. She and his best friend Rick were with him when he took his last breath.
Everyone knew Jeff differently, but I think we all can say he wouldn’t hurt a fly; he was a gentle man and a gentleman. He loved his kids…and loved being their dad. He was searching for love and found Elizabeth.
I saw my brother very few times, although we lived in the same area. On occasion he would join Dave and me ballooning either in Sacramento or at the Great Reno Balloon Races. I loved Jeff, I wanted us to grow old together but fate has changed this.
No matter who you are please write things you knew and saw both in and with Jeff. Please send pics and music, thoughts etc…

I can hardly believe it has been 2 years since you left us. I still come here all the time looking for you. There are so many things I would like to say and yet have said them so many times already. You touched my life in a way I never thought possible. I realize that I have to move forward in my life without you and I am but I still miss you more than any one could have imagined and will love you for the rest of my life.

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we will begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.

Our lives are ever changing. We move from one space to another without ever being sure of what the new space will bring to our us. Sometimes it's joy, but sometimes it's sorrow. If when I'm gone from this earth people will say that I brought something worthwhile into their lives I will have had a successful life. When I leave this earth no one will know what my next space will involve. But be sure, as I am, that
Our lives are ever changing. But be sure, as I am, that Jeff is in a space inside all the hearts of all who knew him. I know this because all of you have told me so. Where else is he? I don't know, but I believe that if it's possible, he's somewhere looking at us and telling us the time to mourn him is passing. Now he wants only smiles when he's remembered. He was a happy guy. He loved to laugh and make his friends laugh with him. I know this because Elizabeth told me so as did the pictures they shared with me. None of us will ever forget him. None of us will ever stop wishing his time with us could have been longer. But, there will be fewer and fewer tears and more and more smiles when we think of what time he was able to share with each of us. So, on this anniversary, let's say Thanks Jeff, it was good to know you!

Here we are coming upon 1 year since you left us. One year ago today was an important day for us. We made it to our 90 day mark. I had taken a class that said by the time you reach 90 days the chemical response would be worn off and you will be able to see the real person. You loved to tease me about it and said I would wake up on the 89th day and realize I

I had taken a class that said by the time you reach 90 days the chemical response would be worn off and you will be able to see the real person. You loved to tease me about it and said I would wake up on the 89th day and realize I didn't want you. You and Rick drove down to celebrate our important milestone. You and Rick laughed and said I had until midnight to change my mind then there was no gong back. We would be locked together forever. We all went to my dance class and you learned to do a line dance called 'aint going nowhere" then you learned to Two Step and later we sang Karokee. We danced and sang all night. At midnight you made a toast stating that you and I were forever now. You said we were special and everyone there knew it. It was a great night.......
