Howard
Ruth V. Howard, of Ann's Choice in Warminster, PA., died Sunday Nov. 20, 2011, in Doylestown Hospital. She was born on Christmas Day, 76 years ago to William E. Woods and the former Ruth Schlater. Born in Philadelphia, Ruth grew up in the Kensington section of the city.
Through mutual friends she met her husband to be, William J. Howard. They married at a young age in Elkton, Md. Shortly after they married, Mr. Howard joined the Armed Forces. Upon returning from the service, Ruth and Bill lived in South Philly with her parents. In the early '50's they moved to West Oak Lane with their daughter, Susan.
In 1969, while living in West Oak Lane, Ruth and Bill started their own business, "Howard Safe & Lock". Ruth was very active in the business, working along side him and running the office. She helped Bill grow the business and encouraged her husband to expand, opening an office in the Lawndale section of Philadelphia.
Ruth always joined things whole heartedly and was a consummate volunteer. She was a very active member of Oak Lane Presbyterian Church, Lawndale Business Association, Greater Philadelphia Locksmith Assoc. Auxiliary, Locksmiths of America, and President of Benjamin Wilson Senior Center in Warminster, PA.
