Sandy and Dave, I was so shocked and saddened when I read the e-mail about your mom. I just can't believe she is gone because the last time I visited with her she was so energetic and full of life. Of course that was about 2 years ago but that image will always stay with me. She was so dear to me and I really thought of her as my second mother. She always made sure we "girls" were taken

Sandy and Mike ... My thoughts are with you at this time of your Mom's passing. I knew you guys way back in the old St. John's School days .... over the last number of years I would run into your Mom at a grocery store or a Walgreens and we would swap family news. Grandma,
Thank you for sharing your amazing hospitality, enduring strength, unbridled generosity, honest encouragement, heroic hope and God's love in all you did. What a legacy you have left for all of us! Thanks for making your son such an honorable man. He has a gentle strength that came from you. I am blessed to have him as a parent, even though he came into my life several years after my birth. Thank you for ALWAYS making me feel like
Grandma,
Thank you for sharing your amazing hospitality, enduring strength, unbridled generosity, honest encouragement, heroic hope and God's love in all you did. What a legacy you have left for all of us! Thanks for making your son such an honorable man. He has a gentle strength that came from you. I am blessed to have him as a parent, even though he came into my life several years after my birth. Thank you for ALWAYS making me feel like I belonged, for the sick days I stayed at your house when parents needed to work. How you sternly but lovingly nursed my fevers away with amazing made-from-scratch noodles and other deliciousness that seemed to magically appear from your kitchen. You made hard work look easy, so tenacious in all you did and always with a joyful heart...From helping out at the church, rising early each morning to walk, planting your garden and caring for you home, all your time spent volunteering, to wearing your fingers bare sewing beautiful baby quilts...you honored the lives of others and loved deeply. You have always been there for my baby sister too, especially while I have lived far away. I admire and aspire to give of myself the way you have.
The baby quilts you made for us are handmade treasures my children and I (including the new baby) will enjoy for years to come. When we came to visit you a couple weeks ago you asked the nurse to pull down the blankets from the closet you had started for the new baby, asking if I could put the final stitches in. It was so thoughtful of you to have made them, I had to fight back tears. I am so glad that we were able spend that morning with you. I wish we could come and take part in celebrating your life with everyone, but our new little one's impending birth keeps me from traveling. I am so grateful to have been a part of your life. We love you, treasure memories of time spent together, and celebrate the well lived time you had here with us!
With all our love,
Mariah, Philip, Micah, Silas, and Ziva

We will always remember Helen's spunkiness and upbeat personality when we spent time with her at family parties. She filled the room with joy! She also has the natural ability to rock any baby to sleep! We loved her and will miss her.

I met Helene several years ago through her neighbor, Arlene Bortz, and the first day that I met her she opened up her arms and gave me a big hug and kiss and said how glad she was to meet me, And every tine that I visited Arlene, Helene would always make sure that we had something for desert and as always she was there with her beautiful smile and a big hug and a kiss. I will always treasure the memory of knowing such a beautiful woman.
