Eleanor Gaines Miller

Eleanor and my mother, Florence Atkinson, were close friends. Peace and blessings to all of Eleanor's family.

The time spent with her was wonderful and I wish there could have been more. No matter how ill she was, she always showed true grace and courage. She was always quick to share a joke and a laugh. I know she will always be watching over us. She will be sorely missed but I know we all will be with her again someday.

We at Still Hopes feel so blessed that Eleanor decided to come to live at Third floor McDowell. I have been so thankful that I had an opportunity to know her if just for a short time.
She has surely been an inspiration. I will always remember her courage, patience, and positive attitude all during her illness. She never wanted to be any trouble and never complained even though she went through some tough times.

My "Southern Grandma" was a true Lady and I am lucky to have known her. I enjoyed hearing her stories ; she always had a punch line that you just weren't expecting. I admire her strength, even in the hardest of circumstances, her kindness to all, and her remarkable talent/passion for painting. She was such an amazing person and will be greatly missed. My condolences to all my new family and God Bless.

She always kept in touch with me and let me know all about family history and all of the funny things she remembered about me, my cousins and sisters:) She had a great mind and we shared a love of politics and we both were very active in our political affiliations. She painted just for me a beautiful landscape of the atlantic ocean and and the sand dunes and the sea oats:) She painted the same scene on a sand dollar for me that sits in my family room. A few times in my life when I really needed family support, she was there for me, no questions asked:) Just loved me. We both suffered the greatest of losses, our daughter and son. We helped watch over each other through that time and now she is reunited with her sweetheart, Uncle Bill, and her precious daughter, Sherry, her brother Sam:) I know she has hugged my Jeb for me and let him know firsthand how much I love him and miss him:) She is with our darling Momma Gaines and Poppa B:) What a homecoming this must be!!!! OUr loved ones are rejoicing together today and every day:) God bless and tender mercies of our Lord to JOhn Michael, Bill and their sweet wives:) A special thank you and love to Debbie, my new cousin who took such tender care of our dear one:) To Pat, thank you for your watchful eye and help through the years.
