"I was lucky enough to spend several hours with Dale in 1989. Our service club put on a fund raiser and we played the Winnipeg Jets a game to raise some money. Dale was the pitcher for the Jets and he was pretty good at that and few were able to make contact with the ball and even fewer made it to base. We had no runs and the Jets had 17. In the last inning I got up to bat and the 3rd pitch he threw I connected and put it over the fence. I not only got a pat on the back from my team mates but from the jets as well. After the game, both teams went to a members home and BBQd and had some beers. I sat beside Dale for most of the evening and he was truly a humble and a regular guy. This day will be one of the top 10 memories in my life. We all miss you Dale, till we meet again. Greg."

"Some people just pack a lot of living into the short time they are here, I think it’s safe to say Dale was one of those people. I just want to say “thanks Dale” for the thrills and the pure joy of watching you play the game! Nine seasons with Winnipeg officially makes you family and we are so glad you came here. Soar high and skate fast Ducky, you will always be loved by your Winnipeg fans."
