"Black silk t-shirt, Wrangler jeans and black cowboy boots. That's the Orlando I will always remember. I am so happy I could call you friend."

"You started out in Pelican at All Saints High School. We were really proud of you. Your success did not change your parents, they stayed humbled. We pray that the Lord would continue to give them strength ."

"Having attended Notre Dame, I followed Orlando's basketball career at ND. He was truly a great person and tremendous player. His winning shot vs Virginia (Ralph Sampson) and free throws vs #1 DePaul are glorious moments in my and ND's basketball history."

"I want to say that Orlando was always smiling and always going above and beyond helping the younger boys and girls around Mansfield. He was my hero and I was always amazed by his height (I was a few years behind him in school). I had to have my hug from "big o" before and after every game I attended! And he was always smiling and happy to give me that hug. Every time, without exception! Those were happy times.
Ms. Mattie, I'm sure you don't remember me, but I remember you. Your son must have gotten his beauty from you because I will always remember you going around town in that big car! Your make-up always perfect! I know you love your son. I just want to say, remember the beautiful, smiling son of yours...before the devil stole his joy. I so loved your son and followed him, and prayed for him during his trials. He was of good heart and I was very blessed that he was a part of my life. My heart his heavy and my prayers are with your family. As for me, I will forever remember his smiling face. A beautiful man, inside and out. RIP Orlando, I love you."

"When Orlando was first drafted by the Bulls, he lived in Glenview IL next door to me. He was always great to the neighborhood kids and adults. He made us laugh uncontrollably when he would walk his little dachshund dog. The dog would take about seven paces for every pace of Orlando's. A few times he would play tennis against a wall with my brother and me. Condolences to his family from friends of his you never knew.
