Tribute & Message From The Family

Barbara Jean Shobe, 84, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2015. Barbara was born August 6, 1930 in Clark, South Dakota to Rolla Echo and Margaret Jean Duryee. She was the youngest of three children. Barbara lived in Spokane, Washington for many years where she and her husband Ab raised their family. They moved to Coolin, Idaho for retirement and then to Benton City, Washington to be near their family. Barbara was an accomplished seamstress. She made many of her own clothes and clothes for her family while they were growing up. Barbara enjoyed working part time in the office of her church Emmanuel Presbyterian and then Lidgerwood Presbyterian in Spokane. Barbara had a servant's heart. She served as a Deacon and as a member of the Pastor's Seeking Committee at Lidgerwood Presbyterian. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir. She volunteered her time by delivering Meals-On-Wheels in Spokane. Barbara was a member of the Priest Lake Grange in Coolin, Idaho where she served as the secretary. 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord'. Matthew 25:21 Barbara was preceded in death by her father Rolla Echo Duryee, mother Margaret Jean Duryee, brothers, Don and Jerry Duryee, and son Daniel Lee Shobe. Barbara is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard Ab Shobe; daughter Cindy (John) Peters; son Mike (Connie) Shobe; and grandsons, Nicholas, Brian and Brandon Shobe. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Special thanks to Caring Hands Adult Family Home and the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice staff for caring for Barbara in her final days.
