To Mr. Allen Toussaint's Family; I am Joyce Hines Reine, One of The Lead Vocalist and Background Singers, of The Original Recording Group: The Fabulettes.

I was Deeply Saddened, when I learned of the passing of Mr. Allen Toussaint. I met The Extraordinaire Musician and Producer: Mr. Allen Toussaint, in 1969 through my Manager: The Late, Mr. Ulis Gaines and recorded my first record at Cosmo's, where Mr. Toussaint worked along with other Extraordinaire Music Arrangers and Producers, such as: Joe Broussard and The Late Wardell Quezergue.

Mr. Toussaint was First, A Man of "GOD", a Gentleman.

Surely "OUR HEAVENLY FATHER" Will say to Mr. Toussaint, "Servant of "GOD", Well Done!!!!!"

I leave with you all, along with my Deepest Sympathy;

Psalm 147: 3, "HE" HEALETH The Broken in Heart and Bindeth up their wounds.

To Reggie and the entire Toussaint immediate, extended, and musical families,

Please accept my sincere condolences and appreciation for having allowed me to have a small glimpse into the world and magic of New Orleans' singular Musical Ambassador. My respect for Mr. T was so complex, I loved his body of work, his fashionable panache, his penchant for beautiful things in the world and our shared love for the city of New Orleans.

I, too, worked shoulder to shoulder with my father, sharing his passions and talent with the world and I know that upon its loss, there is a searing white hot pain that we wish we could all ignore. But be assured good men who are devoted fathers never really leave us. Only their perspective changes, from eye to eye or looking over our shoulders while guarding our backs to in an instant they are transformed to their eye in the sky bird's eye view from Heaven.

Be blessed and let the prayers of us surround and protect you from the winds of regret, recriminations, despair and depression, he has gone to claim his reward and what a great day in Heaven, it must be.....

Ladies and Gentlemen, Heavenly Hosts and Angels assembled please join me in welcoming the one and only Musical Ambassador of the New Orleans' Sound.....Sir Allen Toussaint for his Command Performance!

As a native New Orleanian,I grew up in my Mother's home going through crates of albums and listening to the music of the musicians from my beloved city. I recently was watching television and a movie "Black Samson", with the soundtrack by Mr. Allen Toussaint came on. I had never seen this movie before, but by Mr. Toussaint's name flashing on the screen, I watched the whole thing; and was so excited to see his name that I called my Mother about it. She then bought us each a copy just so we could add that to our collection of New Orleans memorabilia. Thank you, Mr. Toussaint, for giving unconditionally of your time and talent-you were a wonderful testimony to the spirit of our city. May the peace and love of Christ be with the family during this time of loss.

With deep sympathy we pray for the Toussaint family in the home going of "Allen". He was a true gentleman and a great musician. Many years ago our families attended the same church and he was always peaceable and gentle.
At Fannie Wlliams' Middle school, where I taught music He came and shared His music and experiences with my music students and the entire student body. He gave those students a taste of music of their own New Orleans culture that they will never forget. They witnessed and touched a musical genius. Thanks Allen for sharing your talent with the world.
Family, receive strength in God's word. It will comfort you in this time of your sorrow.
God Bless You,
Archie, Simonia and the Milton Family

Family, friends, and fans of my dearest Allen Toussaint! Surely, he was an Angel who walked among us that was revered, respected, and loved by the world, has touched each and everyone of us by living and leaving a life here on Earth to join The Angel Band of those gone before! I pray for us all... that we endure the pain of Allen's leaving -realizing that he went the way he would have wanted to go... not being a burden to his family. He knew already the burden of being the kind of musician he was, was heavy enough for his family...Prayers for us all-for the future-that we live a giving, living, loving life, as Allen Toussaint did! He made a serious impression on us all to live a better life! I am sure he is walking in purple and golden robes with Heavenly sandals and a crown full of jewels as God promises to those of His children who live like Allen did! We will meet again, dearest one! Remember us and this old troubled Earth because we will be remembering you daily until our time to join you! Thank you for you, your music, your life, and your time , and energy.Until then, we will always love you, New Orleans born Barbara Lane

For many years, I thought that the finest concert of popular music that ever I heard was a solo acoustic set by Taj Mahal in Santa Cruz, California, many years ago. Then, I had the immense good fortune of hearing Allen and his band of stalwarts do a set at SF's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in 2012. Allen's show forever altered my thinking on THAT subject. Thank you so very much, Allen, for the joy that your music gave to us. You, indeed, were one of a kind.

It would be hard to find someone with whom to share my NOLA heritage than Mr. Toussaint. I can't remember when I first heard him perform, or what I first heard him perform, but, undoubtedly, the memories of my childhood were filled with "Lipstick Traces," "It's Raining," & "Working on a Coal Mine" streaming from WTIX or via 45's in juke boxes. I loved that I never stopped being as starstruck as a young girl during our chance encounters, whether we were listening to music in Armstrong Park, shopping, or driving down Esplanade Avenue. I was too shy to ask him for a photo together. I gushed about him to Aeisha when we met in a schoolgirl way. I cried when he & Dr. John were awarded diplomas from my alma mater with the Dalai Lama looking on. I'm so very proud to share my NOLA heritage & love of our music with a man who was such a gifted musician but most of all, a gentleman. The worth of a musician isn't always measured by the money paid...but they get to leave gifts of endless joy to the world to enjoy until the end of time. Thank you for so many gifts, Mr. Toussaint.

What a privilege to have met Allen Toussaint as a young person pursuing music. His humble and kind aura has stayed in the lasting impression he left when Leon Kelner introduced him at the Blue Room. I had no idea who he was but over time realized the greatness in this gentleman who gave a generation his grace and gifts of song. In his absence he has left his music for us all. My heart broke when I heard the news. I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing Allen Toussaint in concert five or six times over the last few years. I smile when I think of him on that stage in Golden Gate Park playing to thousands of people, young, old and in-between, all of us dancing and singing along with this great musician. In a more intimate setting, such as the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, he held us in the palm of his hand with his music and stories, especially a long and winding prelude to Southern Nights. I will hold these memories in my heart forever. Thank you, Allen Toussaint, and deep condolences to his family, friends and fans.

The City of New Orleans has lost one of it's most beloved sons. It was my good fortune to see him several times while growing up in the Crescent City. His music was like a Doberge cake, multi-layered rich and sweet and will stand the test of time. He passed on his knowledege to all that had the talent. For this, we should all be grateful.. IMHO, Allen Toussaint could hear the "rocks and stones" sing. My condolences to all his family and friends.

I believe there could be no more fitting end to such a life, a great concert, a quiet death - the end of that song, but not the music, the music goes on. that's the greatest gift a songwriter could have.

Amazed that "Cast Your Fate To The Wind" and "Southern Nights", two of his greatest songs, were not mentioned. There is a great "biopic" on youtube I have watched. A fascinating piece of musical history about an awesome musical talent - Allen Toussaint!

I got into Allan Toussaint's work relatively late in his career, and since then have turned on numerous people to his legacy. I even wished there had been a biopic made about him while he was still alive. He was a hugely talented musician and composer, and a truly class act who should have been well-known much more widely. I'll miss him a lot, and be thankful for the work we have of his.
