After dad's military time in World War II, he returned in her second semester of l946 and were later married in Grand Ledge. For thirty years she worked at Spring Arbor College as Snack Bar manager, and later as a Faculty Reserves and Archives Librarian. Mom had many hobbies including sewing quilts and crocheting afghans for all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved and was devoted in serving her church the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church; as hostess, junior choir director, children ministries and sang in the church choir. In retirement she especially enjoyed reading books and writing encouraging notes to family and friends. Mom was gifted in the lost art of letter writing. She devoted much of her life as a prayer warrior for her family and others. In retirement Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling with their RV, with friends to European countries, like Norway, the Caribbean, Asia and Japan. They also were blessed to have traveled on many Visa Mission trips to Mexico and Africa. They joined other "snowbirds" for 26 winters in Lakeland, Florida at Light and Life Park. In the last year of mom's life she lived at Arbor North Living Center with dad. The family greatly appreciates the loving care she received from Great Lakes Hospice staff and could not have asked for a more gentle, caring and giving staff from Arbor North. We especially appreciate Kevin, Leigh and Bobbie Gantons' love of our mother. They all treated her as if she were their own. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at SPRING ARBOR FREE METHODIST CHURCH on March 12, Visitation at 11:00 a.m. with family, service will begin at 12:00p.m. with the Reverend Mark VanValin and Reverend Darold Hill officiating.
