Aaron and Kelly,

Your mother, "Whit" or "Ms. Whit" to me, was like my second mother. I am so heartbroken to hear of her passing.

She and I would have so much fun during my resource hours. When I was supposed to be studying, she and I would giggle and whisper stories to each other. From time to time, she would try to scold someone for talking during study hall. She would get serious and stomp her feet, but then she would look right at me and crack a smile. She was so funny and everyone LOVED her.
When I went away to college, we wrote each other letters and I would come see her when I was in town. I still have her last letter on my fridge (with her perfect handwriting).

She was the most wonderfully beautiful woman and I am so grateful to have had her in my life. She wasn't just my teacher, she was my friend. Please email me if there is anything I can do. My thoughts are with you both.

Love you Whit.

To Janey's family,
So sorry to learn of her passing. She was a member of my sorority from Kirksville. Such a lovely woman and much too young to leave. May you find comfort in your memories.

Ms. Whit,

I still cannot believe you're gone. I will miss you so much. Resource and Lafayette would not have been the same without you. I will never forget the many hours we spent together lecturing the boys to be quiet and chatting about Escadrille. Thank you for always being so kind. You will be terribly missed.

I am saddened to learn of the passing of Janey. She was a wonderful member of my college sorority. We enjoyed her sweet spirit and great ideas at our reunions through the years. Blessings and prayers to her family.

I was shocked to hear of Janey's passing. We were college roommates for 2 years and in each other weddings and also sorority sisters. Janey had a unique sense of humor and was so much fun! I send my deepest sympathy to her family. She was crazy about her grandchildren and we enjoyed trading grandmother stories! I hope to talk to family but have no info on how to reaching them. I extend my deepest sympathy - such a great loss!!

I love you Mrs. Whit. I loved being called rascal and getting a hug every time I came in to say hello, even after I stopped taking flex. I remember you congratulating me on my acceptance to college, being there when I submitted the application, you really went above and beyond the call of being a phenomenal teacher. I'll have fun in New York for you, just like you asked.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of Janey. It was truly an honor and privilege to have known her, worked with her at Lafayette, and she will always hold a special place in my heart. Janey's keen wit and marvelous sense of humor along with her colossal heart for LHS and her family will be sorely missed. May God grant His peace, comfort and strength to Whit's family and friends as only He can.

Ms. Whit will forever be missed. She was one of my best friends, and never failed to make me smile. I remember the first few weeks of flex being extremely cold, so Ms. Whit brought in her own blankets. Or the time when she got me a birthday card with a bookmark. I especially loved the days when we were the only two people in the flex room so we talked about her plans for retirement, and how she wanted to start grocery shopping for other people. And even though she wanted students to do their work, Ms. Whit still politely interrupted my studying so we could look at the cute animal pictures on her computer. Ms. Whit was such an amazing, hard working, and loving person who made school and flex a better place. The Lafayette Community will miss Ms. Whit.

Words cannot express the sadness the LHS family is feeling. Mrs. Whit was loved by all at LHS - past and present - she will be missed. She was one fine lady. Sincere sympathy to her family.

I am so saddened to hear of this. Janey was my sorority sister and the little sis of my friend John Mathis. I have many happy memories of her smiling face and her fun sense of humor. I'm thinking of her family and friends at this difficult time.

Janey has been both my teacher and my colleague, and in both roles, she was warm, helpful, funny, and supportive. She was a special person, and the LHS community will miss her dearly.

There aren't enough words yo describe how great of a woman Ms. Whit was. At Lafayette, she was known as the queen of the Flex Program kingdom. She evoked fear in the weak students, but if you truly got to know her, you'd realize she's a kindhearted, wonderful woman. I had her for 7th hour which was rare and we only had two students. During testing where we were in her room for multiple hours, she took us to the lecture hall, made nachos, and watched the movie Frozen with us. She got me through some of my toughest days and will truly be missed.

I'm so terribly sorry about your loss. Janey was a sweet and warm soul. It was my fortune to stay in touch with her over the years. She truly liked as well as loved her family and was very proud of you both.

I am so sorry to hear about Janey, I always enjoyed seeing her. I am glad I was able to see her at the Reunion at Stephen's in October. May God bless and be with all of you in the coming weeks and months.

Ms. Whit was an incredible woman and contributor to the Lafayette community. She was beloved by Lafayette, because it was so clear how much she cared about us students. Despite having graduated from LHS several years ago, my heart was broken by the news of her passing, because LHS truly lost a gem. Ms. Whit will be dearly missed, but undoubtedly remembered.

She was the kindest teacher, and truly cared about her students. Lafayette's heart is broken, and will not be the same without her.

Dear Aaron and Kelly, I wanted to reach out to you and tell you how sorry I am in the lost of your mother. Your dad and especially your mother was very kind to me many years ago and I have never forgotten their love and kindness that they so willingly gave to me. I pray the Lord's sweet presence is especially real today and that He brings you comfort that only He can give.
