Condolence & Memory Journal

I had Sr. Georgette as my first grade and second grade teacher in Our Lady Of Victories in Jersey City from 1956-58. She was the first school teacher I ever had, and she introduced me to school in a gentle and loving manner, no easy task with over 50 six year olds in one classroom with no aide. I have always had fond memories of her.

Sister Georgette was my first grade teacher. She gave love & care like no other teacher. I absolutely adored her. I still have a note that she gave to me when I left that school as a 4th grader. As an adult, I called to tell her so in the early 90's. She crosses my mind often and will always be in my heart. An angel here and now in heaven.

A life well lived, Sr. Georgette was. I had Sr. Georgette in both first grade (1956-57) and then again in third grade (1958-59) in Our Lady of Victories School (OLV) in Jersey City. My father and I and my seven siblings all attended OLV; not sure who else had the privilege of having her. I have such fond memories of her gentle, kind, and skilled manner in dealing with us all in classes that numbered 40-50 students before Catholic schools' classrooms began to empty, bit by bit. If I'm not mistaken, my mother tells me that St. Georgette said a prayer for her, pregnant again after five straight boys, that she have a girl, a prayer which worked! Sr. Georgette also was a friend to another OLV lower-grade Sister, Sr. Mary Imelda.

When St. Georgette approaches the pearly gates, she undoubtedly will be be greeted by the Almighty who will greet her with "Welcome, and thanks for listening."

A life well lived, as I said.

So sorry for your loss. What a good long life Sister Georgette enjoyed. So many cannot say the same. She was one of those the Bible call especially strong. Ps. 90:10

Aunt Lorraine was such a kind soul. She was always so sweet, genuine, and could always make you smile. She will be missed.
