Condolence & Memory Journal

I met Dr. Roberts over twenty years ago BEFORE he went to Tuskegee. DARRYL had a sharp, analytical mind. I was only recently told of his transition. I good person, gone too soon.

I was one of Dr. Roberts' students at Tuskegee University. My mind is rushing with a thousand memories of how much he impacted my life not only through his rigorous teachings in the classroom but his multiple teachings about life itself. He was tough, but he was fair. He pushed us... Hard; but it was because he was vested in our well being, interests, and success.

I am forever blessed to have known him. Thank you for sharing this man with his students for so many years. He will truly be missed. May he rest in peace.

The first time I met Dr. Roberts in Raleigh he was shopping for a purse for Brenda - the last time I saw them together in Durham, they both were shopping together as usual and had stopped for lunch. We we able to catch up on Durham politics, the great estate sale they had just left
This is one of those - "we'll get together soon". Another teaching moment from him - Don't keep putting time off to get together. I learned so much from him. Another limb from that oak tree of life has fallen.

My uncle was like a father to me. He was the go to person throughout my life. I'm going to miss his classic laugh! Whenever I was going through a crisis, issue, dilema, etc he would always have me feeling that I could conquer it with ease. I will work to keep his vision and legacy going.
