For most of my life, I have considered the Lawrence family extended family of mine. We would see and speak to Bryce Sr. behind the serving line downtown on Sundays. Eventually, we saw Richard and Bryce Jr back there as well. It's a sad day for me, and for Texarkana and the surrounding area. God Bless, family. You are a part of us all.

We are so very sorry to hear of Richard's passing. As everyone else who has posted, we, too, have enjoyed seeing and visiting with Richard while in line at Bryce's most every Sunday for many years - always bringing a smile or laugh! Though we have missed seeing him the last several months, he has been on our minds and in our hearts. Such a sweet man who has left a void in the entire Texarkana Community. We pray God's comfort for his entire family in the weeks and months ahead.

Richard and Lindy have a special place in so many hearts. My daddy said that Watty Myers told him if Richard had Chichester's size, he would have been the best football player he had ever seen. Richard always lit up the room with his mischievous yet charming smile. Our heartfelt sympathy to Lindy, the children and to his wonderful siblings and their families.

I remember seeing Richard at the Texarkana College Pinkerton Center pool. Always a kind word, and he would swim anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour. But oh no, he wasn't done, and he would get in the sauna and stay another 15 or 20 minutes. When my family would visit the "Cafeteria", when he saw us, he always spoke, always smiled, always checked to make sure everything was tasteful and up to his standards. He will be missed. To the Lawrence family, we give you strength and many prayers...he was a great man.....Milam, Cindy, and Chelsea Albright

Lindy, Bryce, and Sharon,

I am so sorry to hear the news about Richard. The last time I saw him was about two or three years ago when I was visiting my sister in Texarkana, and I stopped to eat at the cafeteria. Whenever I did so, I would see Richard or you, Bryce, and I would catch up on local news. My earliest memory of Richard was when he was a little boy with his wagon out in the street in front of the house on Pine. I also seem to recall running in to him at the 7-11 at 33rd and Texas Boulevard when he was a senior in high school, for I believe he was telling me about where he might be going to play college football.
Although I did not really get to know Richard better until later years, he certainly impressed me as a courteous, kind, and generous man that could easily make friends. I will certainly miss him, and I will be thinking of you and your family.

So sorry to hear of this sad news of Richard's passing. He introduced me to those peppers at Bryce's, the last item on the buffet. I ate two last Monday. Richard knew and Bryce knows what they and their family business have meant to me since I first met all in 1999. Bryce's afforded me a refuge for good food, good conversation, and a place I called my second office. I will miss Richard greeting me behind the buffet line, suggesting an item or two, asking how I was doing, and thanking me for my business. I will miss his friendship and conversations. I send Lindy, Bryce and their family my deepest condolences. And I thank them all for giving me, the Texarkana community, and so many people beyond Texarkana a wonderful, memory-filled, historical place for dining; A place that Richard help make special.
