Condolence & Memory Journal

My husband Andrew and I always enjoyed running into Carolyn Moses - the friendly musician with the beautiful smiling face. After listening and trying to play under the patient instruction of David, my husband gifted me with a dulcimer. Carolyn was so gracious, she allowed me to sit in at the Feast and gave me my first music so I could play along. The next year and for many since, I would bring my dulcimer and costume down from Highland, In. and play with the group. Thank you, Carolyn, you always made me feel special when you welcomed me with your glorious smile. You gave such wonderful memories to so many Feast goers with your beautiful music and gracious spirit. The love you had for Jesus, your family, your fellow man and music shone like a beacon. Prayers and condolences to the family. -

I've just learned of Carolyn's death and like others who have written here, I was so blessed to have considered her my friend. I had known her nearly all of my life and, most recently, was privileged to spend some wonderful days with her and our other friends Sharon and Sally in Florida in March of 2016. With two other friends, Karla and Mary, we began a round robin letter when we graduated from high school in the 1950s and had continued that over the years. We, "the robins," and so many others, I know--will miss her greatly. She was a wonderful source of joy and understanding to us all.

My condolences to the family of Carolyn Baker Moses.

I'm sure Carolyn's family and friends, who have gone on before her, greeted her in a field of peonies with joy and music as she joined in with her dulcimer. What a wonderful memory Carolyn has left for us.

Lucia Irons Boyer, sister of Carolyn's lifetime friend, the late Karla Irons Erick.

We always enjoyed running into Carolyn Moses - the friendly musician with the beautiful smiling face. That and the testimony of love in her family, especially through our friend Susan, tell of a life lived sweetly and a loss that will be deeply felt by many. Thank you, Carolyn, for the beautiful music at so many gatherings and, more importantly, the love you emanated to others. Since there will be great worship music in Heaven, you're probably already tuned up and playing. Looking forward to sharing that with you one day. Prayers and condolences to the family.

Carolyn's legacy will live on in so many ways: her love of family and friends, her gift for music, her administration of the children's program of BSF, and more than I could ever name. I was blessed to know Carolyn and watch her in action at BSF. My condolences to the family as they celebrate her beautiful life, recount their precious memories, and mourn their earthly loss which is heaven's gain. Peace to her memory.

Carolyn and I have been friends for more than 45 years - and prayer partners all through that time. We were glued together in Jesus. Since I moved up to Michigan 17 years ago, she and I met every other Sunday evening by phone to have a time of prayer for each other, and for our families and loved ones. She and I were in a greeting card business from 1990 to 2000, First Fruits, tithing our gross income to feed the hungry. We depended on the Lord for everything in the business, giving and never in want. I have to laugh now at how I was in awe at how she could carry those heavy boxes of cards with no problem. Our times together were so rich. I thought the other day of something I wanted to ask her...and the stab in my heart at knowing those days here on earth were over brought an unimaginable ache. I'll hold that question - and others - until we meet again...at the feet of Jesus.

I was saddened to read of Carolyn's passing. It has been my good fortune to know Carolyn and David since the fall of 1961 when I was first a student at Purdue. I always enjoyed her smile and the beautiful music she made on her dulcimer. Our condolences to the children and grandchildren.

Carolyn was a person that radiated goodness and love. Her smile was radiant. To be a good mother is one of the best things anyone can do with a life and she was an amazing mother. She will be missed.

I first met Carolyn through her husband. David and I both worked in the Purdue University Libraries. I've enjoyed Carolyn's talents as a musician for many years and, in doing so, observed and appreciated her wonderful gift for bringing others into her music. In this and other ways, she was a very special person who lighted up the lives of others with her own light.

Carolyn was a sweet, gentle lady. Her smile was infectious and she was always welcoming to those of us who were blessed to see her once a year a the Feast. She is now walking with Jesus. I am a better person for knowing her. God Blessed her and continue to her family.
