Condolence & Memory Journal

My dear friend Carol, ¿Qué puedo decir? What can I say? It should not have been your time. From our get-togethers in H.S. to our shared time in Spain (yes, it's true she wanted to get back to you Bill, so she only stayed 1/2 year) the memories are fabulous. Meeting your wonderful Spanish friends, our excursion to Chinchón, apple picking in NY, NYC visit from España, connecting me with the Argentine news reporter for my classes... And it was truely lovely to see you both at my 50th. I cry with you, Bill, and your lovely children, and Christine & your family, at your loss and our loss as her friend. Carol, you did it all to perfection and I know you are not finished yet. With love, Angela (Vacante) Miller and Jan & our family, my sister Cristina, too.

I met Carol shortly after my son's passing. We sat and talked about my son and treatments they both shared. She was extremely brave but also caring at the same time with us both suffering in our own way. She was extremely pleasant and I am saddened to hear of her passing. Bill, I am extremely grateful to you for our conversations at school when you are subbing and inviting me for that dinner at your house. I hope to see you at school this year and if you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask. My deepest sympathy. Ron

Three of my children had Carol for Spanish, and to this day they remember her as one of the best and most memorable teachers they've ever had.

I vividly remember my daughter Cheryl telling me a story about what happened in Spanish class. She was still hysterical as she tried to relate it to me. Carol was teaching vocabulary using flashcards. As she dropped the "raton" flashcard on the floor, she jumped on a chair, reacting as most of us would upon seeing a mouse. The entire class erupted in laughter.

As a fellow Spanish teacher and colleague, I had the greatest respect for her devotion to and love for her students. She certainly was an amazing person and will be forever missed.

My sincerest condolences to Bill and their lovely family.

We had the pleasure and priviledge of welcoming Carol, a very special lady, to our home when she first arrived in Spain in the 70s. Over the years and the distance, we have always felt her warmth, joy of life and great love for her family. Carol added a spark of happiness to the lives of all who knew her. We send our sincere condolences to you, Bill, and all her family.

So long it took us to get to know each other. In the matter of a year, we bonded as never before with anyone. I grew to love her as more than one of my own. Being with her was like being in the presence of my brother-her father, Peter Sagnelli. To you , Bill, and to all of Carol's children and grandchildren, I cry with you at her loss.

I am so saddened by the passing of Carol. She was one of the sweetest, most helpful individuals I know. Her style of teaching helped me to understand Spanish. And she was so generous with her knowledge. I will miss her.

We send our sincere condolences to you all. Carol was a most caring, kind and intelligent lady. She was a well known and respected educator with a such a bright and quick sense of humor. I remember a long visit with her going over lesson plans, and how grateful I was for her expertise so readily shared with confidence and encouragement. May her laughter and bright spirit remain in the hearts of all who knew her. May she be at peace, and may you all find comfort with family and friends.
With much love,

My history and Carol's are forever intertwined. We met in Spain in 1973, lived together, traveled in Spain together and subsequently traveled through Europe together. I will never forget the special person she was, even then early on. BIll, she went back to you and I stayed in Spain! MY heart is breaking for all of you. MY deepest condolences. She will live forever in my heart and my cherished memories!
