Josefina "Penny" Urquiola Moises, 78, of Emerson, NJ. Born on March 24, 1939 and passed away in August 11, 2017 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Survived by her loving husband of 55 years( total of 65 years including their courtship since she was 13 years old), Adam Llorente Moises, M.D., her oldest son, Dr. Adam U. Moises, Jr. his loving wife, Hyacinth Ocampo Moises and their daughters, Amanda and Julianna; also survived by her one and only daughter, Rulijo "RJ" Moises Legaspi, R.N. and her children, Rachel, Raquel, Kevin,Jr. and Kaitlyn, Penny is also survived by her loving son, Michael U. Moises. Josefina is pre-deceased by her loving parents: Ex-Mayor Jose C. Urquiola of Banga,Aklan and Rufina Raz Urquiola, R.N., Penny's twin sister, Fortunata Urquiola Agpalo, and their three brothers, Ex-Mayor Jose Raz Urquiola, Jr., Primo Raz Urquiola(deceased at an early age of 2), Primo Raz Urquiola, M.D., and Penny's many family, relatives and friends. Born and raised in Capiz and Banga, Aklan, Philippines. Attended and graduated Salutatorian at Filamer High School in Capiz. Penny was regarded by her classmates as a leader, a good juggler and very charming. She was made the Captain in every sport that she participated in such as Volleyball, Basketball and Softball. Penny followed in the footsteps of her mother, Rufina, who was a nurse and nursing instructor at Emmanuel Hospital in Capiz, Penny did her pre-nursing studies at Far Eastern University and received her Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing at The Chinese General Hospital School of Nursing in Manila, Philippines. She was loved by her nursing students as their nursing instructor in Obstetrics-Gynecology at St. Gabriel Hospital School of Nursing in Kalibo, Aklan,Philippines. She migrated to the United States in 1962 and worked at Center Pavillion Hospital in Houston, Texas. She brought her husband and three young children to the U.S. in 1974. Where she worked at Memorial-Hermann Texas Hospital in Houston, Texas. Through many struggles and sacrifices, she worked hard and supported her family while her husband, Adam, studied and received his Doctor of Medicine License. She worked at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center for 16 years before her retirement in 1996. Josefina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, nurse and Christian. She was always grateful to God for the many blessings and miracles that was bestowed on her. In May 2010, she had suffered a skull fracture and subarachnoid hemorrhage from a fall, remained in a coma for a week and went through many weeks of rehabilitation at The Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in Saddle Brook, NJ. Penny was a member of Aklan Filipino Association of New York/New Jersey. Devoted Christian and member of Westwood United Methodist Church in Westwood, NJ. Penny will be deeply missed by her loving family, relatives and friends. She was always loving, charming, kind and generous to all that she loved and cared for. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Westwood United Methodist Church and/or Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Infusion Center. Family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday August 13, 2017 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm at the William G. Basralian Funeral Home, 559 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ 07649. Funeral and prayer service on Monday at William G. Basralian Funeral Home, All are asked to gather at 10:00 am.
