I didn't know Roy and yet I'm stunned by his sudden death and the huge loss to his wife and family. I'm glad they got to share some quality time with him before he moved on.

In time, I hope you'll find comfort in knowing the greatest gift of love you gave him was permission to live his life on his own terms. We all need that from our loved ones.

My sincere sympathy.

Dear Halladay Family: I give you my condolences to your family. I am absolutely devastated. Literally there are no words. When I saw this on Yahoo I got the phone & called my brother to have him get on-line. It made me ill. We have been Phillies fans since the 1970's. I enjoyed watching Roy pitch & boy could he pitch. And yes his work ethic was just unbelievable. My dad played professional baseball for the Philadelphia Athletics & Phillies among other teams. He was a right handed pitcher as well. My dad scouted for the Phillies for 33 1/2 yrs. I am thankful he gave me the love of baseball. God Bless & Take Care. I will be praying for your family.

Ryan, you were one heck of a pitcher, as I recalled your days in Spring training, and pitching against the Rays. Never had a chance to contact you, but will say you were a true Major League player with exceptional talent on and off the field. You will be deeply missed, and hoping that the modern day sports writers consider you to be inducted into Cooperstown with that said; I am hoping that they take into consideration your stats, and expansion of the game we all love and admire. My prayers go out to your entire family, as we lost an Ace, and they lost a great role mode (Father, husband, brother, (guessing uncle), and a son).

I am so sorry for your loss. My Dad was dying and loved Roy we got him his shirt and he watched all the games which helped his spirits. I was in hair cutter yin Newtown Square one day and here Roy walked in waited in line and took his turn...said he didn't need a wash just a cut and left a generous tipp just a humble simple man and it said so much about his character, I told my my Dad and he said that is why is so cool. He was the guy we all aspire to be. Remember the good times and love to your family.

In 1998 my 5 year old son attended a baseball camp at Coronation Park in Toronto. Roy Halladay was a guest at the camp that day and signed balls for the young campers. What a thrill. My son who is now 24 still talks about that day. Roy Halliday personified integrity, professionalism, kindness and compassion. He was a wonderful example to our children. Toronto has lost one of their own. We were so blessed to have him in Toronto for so many years. RIP... we are heartbroken

The Country of Canada mourns the loss of one of our favourite BlueJays. Doc was such a role model to so many young baseball players aspiring to take the field and play with the heart and soul displayed every game by #32!
My daughter and I had the utmost privilege of attending a BlueJays luncheon and having Roy Halladay sit at our table. He was in his first year with the Jays. He was a real gentleman even in his young career. He chatted with us in his quiet manner and we both were thrilled to get his autograph. I still have mine to this day and I am in my 70's. I am so proud to have known this wonderful man.
A true gentleman and humanitarian along with being an outstanding baseball player.
My condolences to his family at this very difficult time!
Always a BlueJay Doc!

Posted by Linda Ballantyne - Embrun, ON   November 08, 2017

In 25023 innings pitched, Halladay finished the 2010 regular season with a 2110 record and a 2.44 ERA, setting a career high with 219 strikeouts while issuing just 30 walks. He led the National league in wins, innings pitched, and complete games (9), including 4 shutouts. He became just the seventh pitcher in the history of Major League baseball to pitch 250 or more innings with 30 or fewer walks, the first pitcher to do so since Grover Cleveland Alexander in 1923 with the Chicago Cubs. RIP Roy Halladay was the Greatest baseball pitcher of all time .

I just couldn't believe this when I read it. As a Phillies fan, I thought Doc was one of the greatest pitchers that ever wore the deepest, deepest sympathies to the entire Halladay family. May the memories of your husband and father last a lifetime....God bless all of you.

Dear Halladay family,

Me and my teacher Jennifer and my dad we are all deeply saddened by the passing of the late Roy Halladay. I know how much he meant to you and his kids. As you mourn in St, Petersburg, the whole city of Toronto is also mourning with you as well. May his soul rest in peace and we say amen.

As a redsox fan I always hated when you started against us. And all those one hitters you had. You were good. GOD bless you and rest in peace. To young to go Roy .

The news of Roy's passing is heartbreaking. Brilliant, brilliant pitcher; an all-time great. Hopefully Roy will be given rightful recognition by the BBWAA, via enshrinement in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

My deepest sympathies go out to all of Roy's fans, friends, former teammates and coaches, and family.
