John Robert White (Jack) of Plymouth, MA died peacefully in his home on February 5th, 2018. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 20, 1934, to the late Francis W. and Katherine A. (Hickey) White. He was the beloved husband of Suzanne (Sharkey) White and loving father to daughters Sara and her husband Tim Payson of Plymouth, Margot and her husband Mark Bedigian of Naperville, IL, Lydia and her husband John Biondo of Thornton, CO and his son, John R. White, Jr. and wife Susan of Northfield, IL. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren Spencer (wife Shayla) Payson and Kyle (wife Jessica) Payson - USMC, Gregory and Meaghan Bedigian, Jack (III) and Katie White and his great-grandson Barrett Payson. “Johnny” (as known by his sibling) was the brother of Ann M. Capoccia of Belmont, MA and is preceded in death by his brother Lt. Col. Francis W. White, Jr. (US Army), and sisters Katherine A. Hart and Mary E. White. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell (class of 1956) and was an accomplished athlete and musician in both high school and college. Jack retired as the CEO of Ritchie Navigation in Pembroke MA, prior to which he held various senior level leadership positions in his successful 30+ year career at the Albany International Corporation. Jack was a decorated officer in the United States Marine Corp, faithfully serving his country from1956 thru 1962 achieving the rank of Captain and receiving among other honors, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Medal for service in Beirut, Lebanon. Jack dedicated himself to helping others battle the disease of addiction and was instrumental in assisting many to turn their lives around. He was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and loved gardening, reading, cooking, cribbage, and most of all, spending time at his home with family and friends. Visiting hours will be in the Cartmell Funeral Home 150 Court St. Plymouth, MA on Friday February 16th from 4-7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday February 17th at 10:00 am at St. Peter’s Church, Plymouth. Burial will be private.
