Mary Jane and I have been great friends for 44 years. That is a long time painting. She found me in Murphysboro IL where I was teaching decorative painting classes. She stayed for a week taking classes. Then I went to Evansville to teach first in her home and then in The Red Sled. And at the same time I took classes from her We got together so many times in those years to paint, paint and paint. We shared everything we learned with each other. What an education.
She was so much fun and I loved her so much. In the past 10 years, most of our contact was by telephone. I will never forget her.

I was never fortunate to paint with her but her patterns are still in my inventory and I teach them to my beginner classes.

In the mid '80's I took a series of folk painting classes at Mary Jane's shop on Oak Hill Rd.
It was an experience that, throughout the years, I have looked back upon fondly.
She was such a talented lady who shared her knowledge with great humility, humor and generosity.
I know she will be missed by all who knew her. My condolences to her family and friends.
