Condolence & Memory Journal

Although it's probably been 35 years since I last saw him, I have the fondest memories of DJ -- always laughing, telling a joke or just generally cheerful and happy. My mom, Nina Mackey, was such good friends with Walt and Bernie and so misses them both. DJ definitely was a "people person" and I know you'll miss him dearly.

Just heard of your loss. My prayers for all your family. My thoughts drift back to the days when we climbed the big tree in your back yard and the fort that was between the fences over grown with weeds. DJ was always a part of every thing and loved by all!

I'm sorry I can't be there today but my prayers and sympathy are with you as you remember and celebrate DJ's well-lived and well-loved life. Long ago I and other members of my family were in his book of addresses and phone numbers and loved hearing from him.. Sincerely. Patty Regan ( an old friend of Walt and Bernie)

We grew up neighbors. I used to sit with him when his folks were out. Knew Tommy and Marty as well. DJ was the kindest soul that ever lived. Always had a smile on his face. After we moved he would call just to make sure we remembered him. Will never forget him. Gods speed buddy

DJ was a very caring person. I was an aide one summer at his school. My first day on the job we had a field trip. DJ and I sat next to each other. I had an accident that day and spent 2 weeks in the hospital. When i got home DJ begged his brother to bring him to see me. He so lifted my heart with that small gesture! Dj will be greatly missed! May he RIP!

My heart felt sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Dj during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort.knowing that there is a hope for the ones we lost in death can be so reassuring.

To Mary and the Bodine family, I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother DJ. I do remember him from way back in my younger years when I spent time at your home. I pray for peace during this difficult time. May your memories of DJ live on in your heart.

I knew DJ the summers he attended Lakewood Day Camp at Swope Park. He was always friendly, loving and full of fun. He was SO proud of his Dad on WHB. I have never forgot him and know he will be tremendously missed by his family and all who knew him.
