Condolence & Memory Journal

I met Daryl at Long Ridge School in Stamford, CT. He was the cutest little kindergarten boy we'd ever seen. My friends and I would be so excited to see him at recess time. The other girls in my class and I would take turns carrying him around on our hips from one side of the playground to another incorporating him in our many make believe games. He was such a good natured little person. He never seemed to mind all the fuss and confusion that was our pretend world.
We loved him! Our teachers were often heard saying "Put that boy down before he forgets how to walk!" Then, I graduated and life happened. We lost touch but I always wondered what happened to Daryl. Until, one day while shopping at Stop in Shop in Norwalk I heard his name called over the loud speaker. I was intrigued. I asked around and to my great joy found that this was indeed the same Daryl Spearman. I was thrilled to embrace him and hear about his beloved children and family. He still had the gentle demeanor I remembered. He encouraged me by sharing that his faith in God had gotten him through many trials. The same would be true for me. I was looking forward to seeing him more regularly on my shopping trips when the workers went on strike for benefits at Stop n Shop stores across CT. When I finally began shopping after the strike ended I heard the sad news that Daryl had lost the battle with cancer. I Thank God for Daryl ! I am grateful for his warm and uplifting spirit. I am praying that his family and friends will keep their great memories of him as a light in their own spirits knowing how blessed we all are to have known him. God bless you!

Sincere condolences to the family. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure in your heart and it lives forever. May the wonderful treasures fill your hearts with love and bring you peace, Hosea 13:14.
