My condolences to the Barksdale Family and friends for the loss of CHARLES. His music was still on top when I was a teen in the '60, my kids grooved with it listening to it in the '80s and it still hangs in strong. May you continue to be blessed with his memory and legacy and your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times you shared together; and may the hope that God's word gives us for those we lost in death be comforting, faith building and encouraging to you (John 6:40) ~ Linda, Queens, NY

Altho, I wasn't born in the "Dells" generation, but I grew up with my mom & family who loved listening to the one and only "Dells". I know most of their music, and sad to hear Mr. Barksdale is no longer with us. I pray the family be comforted during this time and know that God is the true source of comfort and strength you need.

One of my favorite songs is,"Oh What A Night" by the Dells. At Charle's resurrection there will no longer be a night. The Son will shine forever and ever. Charles voice is part of my diary of life in my record collection. May God of heaven place His arms around the family and friends of Charles Barksdale.

I can't express this enough that OLD SCHOOL MUSIC is the best music. The DELLS was one of those classic DOO-WOP groups. Being a teenager in the 70s going to house parties and being at the roller skating rink, that's all they played was the DELLS, everybody looking for a partner to slow dance or skate with (memories). So many wonderful No. 1 hits and they had the voices and could perform live in concert. Listening to soul music on the black radio station helped introduce the black solo artists and male doo-wop groups. THANKS FOR THE GREATEST MUSIC EVER!!!...MUCH LOVE❤❤

I am also a Chicago native and a long time fan of the Dells. I grew up in the southside of Chicago listening to their hits and other artists from that era when music was truly easy listening and fun to dance to. May his family seek comfort in knowing that Charles will return to the days of his youth as promised at Job 33:25.

To the Barksdale Family. I cannot express the sadness I feel for the loss of your Loved One. I will always remember Chuck for the great, professional and talented musician he was. We each have an

expiration date. The issue is we do not always know when this date will take place. Chuck was a big part of my/our lives, the Williams Family. He was instrumental in developing the skills and talent of my late brother David Williams, which allowed him to expand his career goals as one of the greatest guitarist in the industry. R.I.P. Chuck. Your legacy will live on forever. To the family, stay strong in Faith. God Bless...

My first, Robert and I loved The Dells and we spent many a romantic night listening to them. Instead of an engagement ring, my Love, who was drafted for Vietnam, gave me all The Dells albums!! A few weeks ago while on Facebook, I found out my love was happily married and it threw me into a Dell's listening binge. Then today, learning quite by accident, about your passing is so bitter sweet that I cried! R.I.P. Charles and thank You and The Dells for such awesome music!!

Doo Wop is simply magic in the form of music. Once you got a taste of it, you carry it inside forever. Then you have a legend like Charles, who takes it to another level, man it can't get any better than that. He is a giant in the music business, but also in life. His passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts, but the memories and the music live on FOREVER! What a great human being. Our lives have been truly blessed by his presence and by his talent. Prayers go out to all of his family , the Dells, and his friends.
