Condolence & Memory Journal

Pastor Jerry served as my pastor for one year. He will be missed

Jerry was a very creative as well as effective preacher. Adults as well as youngsters enjoyed and were enlightened by his "children's moments" Also, once a month, he agreed to participate in "Stump the Pastor" where he was given an object of some kind in a bag and was to immediately create a sermon using that object as the topic.

Many of his sermons centered on peace. One Sunday he folded an origami crane as he preached on the topic of shalom.

The Ohio region was gifted with Jerry's leadership in Christian Education, one of the many areas in which he ministered to and with the wider church.

My family (including Grandparents) were members of the Lakewood Christian Church throughout the 1950's to the 1980's. My mother, Marilyn Neal was the church organist and my father was an Elder. Jerry played an important part of my life and the lives of many of the youth during the mid-1960's.

When my mother passed in 2007, I called Jerry to ask him to be a part of her memorial service at L.C.C. He agreed, and spoke many kind words about mom and recalled many moments that meant the most to him about the music she selected, played and how it may have inspired one of his daughters to also play organ and piano. On behalf of my entire family--Thank you for being a part of our lives.
