Rick changed my life for the better. When my wife and I were living in Chicago and expecting our second we needed a house in the suburbs....Rick's dad, a client of mine at the time, suggested I contact Rick as Rick and Cindy were living in Naperville and loving it. Soon after that conversation I was having lunch with Rick....taking time out of his day to meet with a complete stranger.....and he drew a Naperville map on a napkin for me of where we should look for a home. Not long after that lunch we used that map to buy a place. Several months later...I was standing in the back yard and had my hands around what I thought was a big weed...about to pull it out of the ground....when I heard "STOP" It was my soon to be new neighbor Rick standing in an empty lot one house away..... "that is a cotton wood..it will grow four feet a year"....so I did what he said...now that tree is at least 35 feet high! That tree provides beautiful shade on those hot summer days..but it is also emblematic of how Rick's kindness in meeting with me for lunch that day thirty years ago has grown in significance...it was the seed that started this wonderful life we would not have come to know without his advice. Rest in peace my friend.
