Condolence & Memory Journal

I had the privilege of getting to know Viking when he was with Arrow Transportation. At that time, he was extremely active with our Safety Council at the Oregon Trucking Association. He placed highway safety ahead of all other business needs, and his passion for safety carried over in his leadership of the Safety Council. He was a great model for younger people coming in to the industry. We were all a little better off because of our relationships with Viking.

Karen and family: We are sorry to learn of Viking's passing. We had some fun when we were young and living in Linnton. I will never forget his kindness, laugh and those Friday after-work nights in the neighborhood.

I worked with Viking at Liberty Northwest. He was such a professional and worked hard so employees could go home safely to their families at the end of the day. But more than that he was a delightful person. These pictures capture his essence - that wonderful smile!
My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I would like to send all my love and sympathy to Karen, and the boys; Trevor, Ian and Lars, on Viking's passing. He was a kind and wonderful man, and I remember many dinners with the family at the house in St Johns. He will be missed. All my best to Karen and the family.

I found Vikings wallet in rose city park elementary school gymnasium when I was very very young, i remember how "cool" i thought it was, I lived across the street from the school ,so I took the wallet to my home probably expecting to turn it @ school . Within A couple of hours "Viking" showed up @ our door & recovered his wallet , that was even "cooler" I never forgot how "gracious" he was, (even in his youth) to the little"geek" that took his wallet home . What a lesson for a little guy ,about how to conduct one's self , I never forgot "Viking" Lonnie Pickerell (7-7-47) N.E. Portland , Grant High school class of 1965 / R.I.P. ,"VIKING"

Joyce and I are very saddened to hear of Vikings passing. We share many memories of Viking and Karen. He was blessed with a wonderful family. We know he will be missed by who knew him. He was a friend to everyone and always had a kind word to say. If it could be said of anyone it could be said of Vikings, he had a kind heart. He also had a good and full life because he was surrounded by those who loved him. Our love goes out to his family. Dan and Joyce Ramberg

Rest in peace Viking. I had so many good conversations with you that stick with me, almost word for word, to this day. I admire the values you very fiercely held. Very few people can say they lived as good of a life as you did. The love that you spread will continue on for a long, long time. Look forward to seeing you on the other side (and I promise I will steal another one of your cheap beers when I get there and laugh with you while enjoying it).

I love this tribute to Viking and the photos capture his sweet, mischievous personality. He loved you boys so much; his family meant the world to him. We were so fortunate to know this wonderful man and be on the receiving end of Viking and Karen's hospitality. He will be greatly missed. Now, go VOTE & let's all love our lives with intention & joy❤ Our deepest sympathies to all his family & friends.
