Helen Whiteley

Helen Whiteley 95, Indianapolis, went home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, the Son of the Living God, on Friday, April 3, 2009.

Helen graduated from Manual High School and married Barney Whiteley and they had two children, Raymond and Joan. Helen did the bookkeeping for her husband's construction company for several years and was also a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and homemaker. Their happy home was visited by many friends and family members through the years and was filled with good food and conversation for all who came to visit.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 60 years, Barney Whiteley; her parents, David and Mary Murray; her brothers, John, George "Pete", and David Murray; her brother-in-law, Rowland Whiteley; her sister-in-law, Lottie Whiteley Burrows and Lottie's husband, Jessie "Snooks" Burrows.

Helen and Barney are survived by their son, Raymond (Brenda) Whiteley; and their daughter, Joan (Dennis) Bush; their sisters-in-law Marie Murray and Donna Whiteley. Their grandchildren include Raymond's four children; Rhonda Kirkman, Brian (Mary Ann) Whiteley, Darlene (Mark) Badgley, and Rachele (Ryan) Powers. Joan's two children: Dan (Rachel) Bush and Dawn (Matt) Craig. Their great grandchildren are Ashley and Derek Kirkman, René and Blake Whiteley, Alyssa Badgley, Shannon and Brandon Powers, Trent Grabman, Dakota and Braeden Craig, Julia and Leland Bush. And their many nieces, nephews and cousins and all of their children and grandchildren. Their other extended family members through marriages creating step-brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren through the years of families joining together with various relative of Barney and Helen, and many dear ones including Velma Elsea and Yvonne "Bonnie" Whiteley and many other friends.

Visitation will be Monday, April 6, 2009 from 3 pm to 8 pm at Conkle Funeral Home, Speedway Chapel, 4925 W. 16th Street. The funeral service will be held at Conkle on Tuesday, April 7 at 2 pm with viewing 1 hour before service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Wheeler Mission, Westside Church of the Nazarene, or charity of the donor's choice.

Helen Whiteley will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all her family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched even as we celebrate her reunion with Jesus. The family wishes to thank the caring people at The Bridge at Westside Garden Plaza and Westside Nursing Center at Westside Garden Plaza.
