Condolence & Memory Journal

Dean was one of the first people to make me feel welcome to Greenwood. He was a fine man and will be sadly missed. Our condolences to the family.

Helen and family, Dean and I reported aboard the USS Lofberg in 1952. We served aboard in the same repair shop until discharged. We were the best of friends and had many a fun liberty. After discharge we lost contact with one another until the reunions were founded in the ninetys. I will always remember the times shared with Dean. He always had a smile on his face and could tell a great story. We are honored to have known him. We extend to you our very deepest sympathy. Bonnie and Charles(Charlie)Crume Dec 9, 2009 Belton, Mo.

Mary Ann, I am so sorry for you and your family. I am sharing in your pain and grief as I just lost my Dad 2 months ago. It is very hard !! and I know you will hurt for a long time as I am. There is something about Dad's. At least you have Richard to comfort you. I wish I had someone to share my feelings with; maybe someday ? Please, if you just need a friend to talk to, someone who knows the feelings you are feeling, I am here, just call me. Your Dad was a very special man, I still remember the Marine dinner we went to, he was such a joy to talk to !! My prayers will be with you and your family. Try to stay strong ! Love, Lynda

Being a life long friend of Heather Goldman’s I had the honor to know Mr. Goldman. He was someone that we all looked up to. I feel honored to have known him and I know that his wonderful personality and traits will live on throughout the Goldman family.

I am surely going to miss Dean. He was a very loving man. I remember so many times getting them sweet hugs from him and laughing together. Dean was someone I looked up to and respected in every way. If the world was full of people like him just imagine what a great place this world would be! I'll miss him very deeply.I'm so sorry for your lost. What a great man.

What a day to celebrate, Dean Goldman going home to our loving and forgiving Father!! Mary Ann, your father never met a stranger. He welcomed me to Ninety Six with a warm hug and huge smile, and I will always remember that and be thankful for it. Anyone that saw him or had the opportunity to meet him knew he was a Christian that walked the talk. What a wonderful legacy he left his family here on earth. Your father was such a blessing to many. My prayer is that when you feel that emptiness, you reflect on the many memories you have of your Daddy that brought joy to not only your heart but the hearts of many and know that you will never run out of those memories to fill that spot. May God continue to give you and your family the peace and comfort in knowing your Daddy is in a much better place than the rest of us. Love you, Amy Hilley

Dear Goldman Family I will always remember Dean at the Christmas party that my Aunt Doris McKinney had for "her" children each year. He would sing each year to everyone's delight. I know he and Doris had a great reunion and he will be singing in the great choir in heaven.

To all the Goldman Family: Words could never express how special each of you are to me and my family. Dean was just an exception and will never be forgotten. I will always cherish his friendship. Just think of that grand reunion he is having now in heaven with his loved ones. I pray that God will give you much needed strength and hold each of you in the palm of his hand and help you through this sad time in your life and that he will continue to bless you each day. Please know I am thinking of you and extend to you my very deepest sympathy. Love to all. Mary Ann Smith

Mrs.Goldman, Cheryl, Mary Ann and Laurie, I am sorry to hear of Mr.Goldman's passing. He was a kind and good hearted person. How can I describe my beloved friend? He was the most warm, caring person you could ever meet. He always had a smile, hug or whatever you needed. He loved my dad and mom, Rev JB and Amozine Fortner. He always told me how much they meant to him. He was equally loved by them. My prayers are with the whole family. There will be another great loss in our church. He was an inspiration to all. He will be greatly missed, but I know he is in heaven rejoicing with the other saints who have gone on before him.

Uncle Dean was one of a kind. His humor, graciousness and love for his family is what I will always remember about him. One of my many fond memories of him is when he was introducing me to some of his co-workers...he told them I had many Uncles, but he was "the best looking one". My thoughts and prayers are with his immediate family- I am so sorry for your loss and I know he will be greatly missed by all that were honored to have known him.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you how very precious Mr Dean was - He was so very precious to me. While I worked at 96 Pharmacy, I had the pleasure to get to know Mr. Dean and his lovely wife and daughter. Mr. Dean was always with a smile and a hug, no matter how bad his day was. My sympathies to the family - May God soothe your mournful hearts with loving memories of this precious man.

My eternal thanks for you and your family always making me feel as a member of the family. As a brother in Christ, you will be missed by all. However, we will most certainly meet again. I loved Dean from the minute I met him (when he came and picked Brittani and I up from the gas station when we were lost) and he ALWAYS made me feel welcome in the family. As I have grown older,I have realized how important Mr. Goldman was in my developement as a young teenager and a young man. He gave up his time to be involved with the youth at Siloam. He taught me many things about living a christain life. I am very thankful that God placed him in my life. My prayers are with you all.

To Dean's family we sent our love and prayers during this diffcult time. Dean would have to be remembered as one of the most unforgetable person's that I have ever met. His very present always made me feel in a upbeat manner. As a member of American Post 103, where Dean served as commander for 10 years, his patriotism for his country and the love of his family was always foremost in his presents. Regardless of where you met Dean, he always greeted you with a hug and happy hello.Dean will be missed by everyone that had the wonderful opportunity to know him. God Bless the life of Dean Goldman!

I did not get to spend a lot of time with Dean but the time we shared together left a permenant mark that can never be erased. Dean was the finest gentleman that I have ever had the opportunity to meet. There may be others as good but never any better. Dean, you will be missed.

Helen & Family, I was so saddened to hear the news of Dean. You all have always been a special part of our family although we do not get together as often as we use to. I remember when way back when we were in school and I would come to your house as Mary Ann's friend and play and just hang out. Then in growing up and having families of our own we tend to "distance" ourselves from people but yet we live so close. I guess that is what happened. Just remember that our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family as you go through this. Love Yvonne & Tony Dorn

On behalf of the members of Lakelands Marines, we extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Dean was our Chaplain and an integral part of our detachment. His service to his country, his fellow man and his God, say more about his character and love of freedom than any words. We are saddened by his passing, but give thanks to Almighty God that patriots such as Dean lived. May God's Peace be with his family at this time of loss.

Dean was my friend as well as my father-in-law. He loved his family and his god. He especially loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He accepted me and my family as one of his own. His passing leaves a void that will never be filled. He loved life and never met a stranger. As I sit here with tears in my eyes I do not wish that his passing be mourned but rather that his life be celebrated by all those that loved him.

Helen,Mary Ann,Cheryl and Laurie. Dean was such a good, fine man. He and my dad James were such good friends. He would come to Wesley Commons and cut dad's hair. They would talk and laugh about old times in the mason's. May God comfort you in the days ahead.
