Tribute & Message From The Family

Lelia Fulcher was born in Scotland Neck, North Carolina October 10th 1919. She left home at 18 years of age and moved to Paterson where she lived until April 20, 2011. She married Henry Fulcher in May 1953. They had no biological children but they raised a trio of boys Michael and Bernard Taylor, Maurice and nephew Douglas Mitchell. She also left a host God children. To the rest of Paterson especially to the rest of people of 400 Broadway she was known as "Aunt Lelia" and or "Miss Lelia". She was a life long member of Second Baptist Church in Paterson, NJ. Her education was limited until she enrolled in nursing school, when she graduated and worked for 15 years at what was then Bergen Pines Hospital until she was hit by a car and became disavled and had to retire. Not letting disability keep her down she worked in some of the local Dry Cleaning establishments and was an excellent presser until she retired. Lelia was preceded in death by her husband Henry Fulcher, 5 brothers: Frederick, Cornelius, Jr., James, Franklin and Joseph Mitchell, 4 sisters: Sally Gatch, Roberta Walls, Julia Wilson, Annie Mitchell. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, 2 sisters: Minnie Mitchell of Paterson, NJ, and Linda Cotton of Alexandria, Va., a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was a kind and generous person to all she knew. She will truly be missed by all. I would like to end by thanking everyone who visited and sat with her in her hours of need. There are too many names to mention but you all know who you are.

Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn's rain. Do not stand at my grave and mourn. I am the dew-flecked grass at dawn. Where tranquil oceans meet the land I am the footprints in the sand To guide you through the weary day. I am still here; I'll always stay. When you wake up to morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die.

To The Family: Another angel has earned her wings. It was a previledge to know a beautiful woman. May you have comfort knowing that she is in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Love, Evelyn Hinton-Barbee

The Day God Called You Home God looked around his Garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain. And knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw your path was difficult, he closed you tired eyes, He whispered to you "Peace be Thine" and gave you wings to fly. When we saw you sleeping so calm and free of pain, We would not wish you back to earth to suffer once again. You've left us precious memories, your love will be our guide, You live on through your family, you're always by our side. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. For part of us went with you on the day God called you home.

I close my eyes as I wipe a tear. I just keep wishing you were still here. I will hold all the memories deep in my heart. Through these memories will never part. I close my eyes as I wipe a tear. I just keep wishing this pain would disappear. I didn’t get the chance to say my last good-bye. I just didn’t think you could ever die. I close my eyes as I wipe a tear. All of your love I will always hold near.
