Condolence & Memory Journal

My husband, daughter and I had the pleasure of meeting Dorothea last year. We were visiting Sioux City for a family reunion along with my mother, Alice Carson. We had arranged ahead of time to visit Dorothea in her home. She showed us memorabilia she had saved from high school days. My mother was delighted, as were we. What a lovely and thoughtful lady! We were all so sorry to hear of her passing.

Mrs. Hilts was one of my all-time favorite teachers. She was always firm, but fairexactly what a bunch of fifth grade rascals like us needed. She worked hard to ensure every student in the classroom was given the best possible opportunity to succeed; not only in school, but also in life. Her dedication to her students was abundantly clear. She was a wise woman with that twinkle in her eye showing us all that she cared. She will be greatly missed.
