Condolence & Memory Journal

We were shocked and saddened to learn of Mary Sue's death. Our deepest sympathy to her many friends and family members. She was a part of our lives during the "growing up" years. A good student, wonderful arftist and a sweet spirit. We were happy to see her at our fifty-seventh class reunion. She reminded many of us of her mother during the early years. Take care of you and yours and know that Mary Sue will never be forgotton. The Eaton Rapids Class of 1953

Sue is a gal who I will always remember. We worked together at MPA in Michigan for a couple of years and she and Bryce introduced me to my husband Ron. I wish that I had kept in touch with her after she and Bryce moved to Az. but after my folks moved back to Idaho contact just floundered. She was a wonderful person who helped me so much when my youngest son died. I will never forget her. My sincere condolescenes go out to her and her huge family.

I was floored when I heard that Sue had passed so untimely. My deepest sympathies, prayers and everyday thoughts go with Sue and her family. Sue and I had worked and volunteered together at the Historical Society for years. Sue was a founding member of the Clarkdale Museum and brought so much of Clarkdale's history back to life for Clarkdale's residents and visitors to see. She felt so passionate about the museum and did the same for her home. Sue will be greatly missed by all and myself. Drake Meinke

My deepest sympathies and prayers go with Sue's family. May God bring peace and comfort to you all. I worked with Sue for 5+ years at H&R Block. Sue was always a kind, solid rock for us. Nothing/no one upset her. Whenever I saw her, I asked if she'd come back. All I got was a laugh. Imagine that!

I was so very shocked and saddened to hear of Sue's passing. When I first started with H&R Block Sue was there. We were on the float for the Christmas Parade! Her caring attitude and lovely smile will be missed by us all. My condolences to her wonderful family.

Grandma, I looked up to you and was inspired by you and Grandpa for all the amazing things you taught me and the love you gave me. You showed me that there is more to art then just making pictures. You taught me that art comes from your soul and it is beautiful because it is apart of you. I can't wait to pass on all the wonderful things you taught me how to do on to my daughter. You are so loved and missed, and I will see you again one day in Heaven. Until then, I love you and have you in my heart. -Lucy

Seems like I saw Sue in Cottonwood very recently. I met her when we worked at H&R Block a few years ago. Often visited with her at both the Cottonwood and Clarkdale library events. She was a special person who leaves lots of great memories. My sympathy to all her friends and relatives at this time of loss. I shall always remember her warm smile.

Sadness followed shock on hearing of Sue's passing. We shared the fun and labor of working on the library board, and did cataloging of books in the Reading Room, with other board members. That was a great experience for both of us, as we'd say, "I read this as a child." She will be greatly missed.

I probably only saw Sue 5-6 times in the 3+ years I have been acquainted with the Hill family. Most of the time she was surrounded my children and grandchildren so I didn't have a lot of "one on one" time with her in person. However, once we became friends on facebook, we had a lot of conversations, mostly over bird or nature photography or politics. She frequently commented on my posts and usually had something witty and wise to say. One of the nicest surprises I got from her was when Ivy and I went up to the house for a visit, while flipping through one of her large photo albums of family, I saw a picture of myself that she had taken on a previous visit. I was honored that she considered me part of the family that was so precious to her. I know she will live on through her art, as well as through her children and grandchildren and she will never be forgotten. --- Steve Ramirez
