Tribute & Message From The Family

Obituary "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing…" II Timothy 4:6-8 Alice Mae Wingate was born May 20, 1947 in Oates, South Carolina a daughter of the late Arthur and Juanita Marcus Wingate, Jr. She attended the public schools of Darlington County, South Carolina. She was a graduate of the Butler High School Class of 1967. Alice was a dependable and hard worker. She was employed with Darlington Veneer Company for many years. After many dedicated years of service, she became a caregiver. She had a heart for caring for others. Alice was a member of St. John United Methodist Church since her youth. As she got older, being a servant for God was instilled in her. She loved to fellowship with her church family. She never ceased to keep God first in everything she did. In the face of great adversity in certain times of her life, Alice Mae always pressed forward with fierce determination and a positive attitude. Her faith and belief that things would always be alright made her a rock of support for her family and friends, many of whom leaned on her in their own times of need. Alice Mae was an unselfish spirit and wonderful sense of humor always seemed to make those around her feel better in troubled times. Those who knew and loved her will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by both of her parents. Surviving to cherish the memory and maintain the legacy of Alice Mae Wingate is her son, Grover Allen (Laurice) Wingate of Hartsville, SC; a daughter, Aimee Louise Dewitt of Columbia, SC; a brother, Albert (Martha) Wingate of Florence, SC; a sister, Rolenia (James) Patterson of Darlington, SC; a special nephew, Anthony S. Wingate of Darlington, SC; two sisters-in-law, Mary Wingate and Carrie Wingate both of Hartsville, SC; nine grandchildren, Dominique Muldrow, Jasmine Miller, Brandon Moses, Nikesha Wingate, Nolan Jackson, Dorian Wingate, Kaelin Brunson, Zavien Dewitt, and Zimya Dewitt, six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and very dear friends. The Best God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Love, Your Children Grover & Aimee

Condolence & Memory Journal

To the family of Alice M. Wingate, I would like to extend my sincere condolences. The death of a loved one can be painful emotionally. It can be quite a challenge trying to learn how to live without them in our lives. GOD has promised through His word, the Bible, that He will perform a wonderful miracle in behalf of those we have lost in death. (Isaiah 26:19 John 5: 28-29 Acts 24:14) May these verses bring you strength and comfort.

Ms. Wingate was like a second Mother to me. I loved her and I knew she loved me and my kids. We would talk about everthing on the way to dialysis. I could talk to her about anything and she would always tell me right from wrong, she will be missed. Love, Angela & The Family.
