Tribute & Message From The Family

Joyce Mae Hagberg, A beautiful red-haired Norwegian German daughter of a North Dakota farmer, Joyce was born in Pettibone, N.D. on May 25, 1927. She resided in Pettibone until graduating from Pettibone High School in 1945. The next few years were spent in California. She returned to Fargo, N.D. and worked as a secretary and ticket agent for Northwest Airlines. In 1951, she married Calvin Hagberg and settled down to raise their three sons. The next years were filled with Cub Scouting, being a "Hockey Mom", and chauffeuring from one event to another. Once her sons were older, Joyce returned to outside work in the Fridley School system. Years of gratifying and enjoyable association with fellow employees followed. In 1989 she retired to pursue a life of domestic challenges, such as sewing, knitting and gardening; several years of traveling, and spending winters in Florida. Joyce leaves behind Calvin, her husband of 60 years; sons, Scott, Keith and Rick; grandson, Jakob; sister, Fern Simons; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Inga Rohde; brothers, Henry, Forrest, Glen, Lorenz; and sister, Beverly Kaczmarski. Joyce enjoyed life and the fellowship of family get-togethers, such as reunions, marriages and birthdays. Her humor and enthusiasm for life will be sorely missed by everyone she knew, especially her family. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2013 at St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 6180 HWY 65 NE, Fridley. Visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Interment at Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials may be made to St. Philip's Lutheran Church or donor's favorite charity.

Thank you all for the support and care I still think about her every day and miss her. But she is in heaven right now, and I pray that we can all see her soon.

I am so sorry I cannot join others today for the service for such a wonderful person and a great aunt as Joyce. My memories of her are the best one can have--always smiling, a little laugh and a great story teller as well. When I moved to the Twin Cities area for my first job after college, Joyce was my reference for electricity, telephone, and rental reference as well. Each time I called to say I had used her name again, we both just laughed. We will miss her greatly--but what a wonderful person to know on this earth. Barb Rohde

We are so sad to hear about Joyce passing and also so sad that we can't be with you on Friday. Her presence in all of our lives will be greatly missed. She brought laughter and cheer to all the family get togethers. She was a wonderful mother, wife and grandmother and very proud of her family. I enjoyed sharing her love for sewing and Eric loved discussing their golf games. We both feel a tremendous loss and our hearts are hurting with you as you grieve. sympathy to you all, wish we could be there. Love , Becky and Eric
