To the family of John Allen,

I had the pleasure of working with John when I worked at the Rocky Mount United Way and Turning Point WDB. John was an awesome person who often showed concern for my professional development. John, helped me tremendously while at Turning Point and I will NEVER forget him. My heart aches today as I learned of his passing.

his was a very sad morning at Kaba Ilco this morning when I walked in and heard about my dear friend John Allen would not be coming in my office to shake my hand and tell me "Good Morning". Recently his handshake was not as steady but he still found the energy to come in and brighten up the beginning of my day with his kind words. I loved this man dearly, and have never worked with a more kind and compassionate person. He always took time for everyone no matter how his day was going up until the last day he walked into Kaba. I will miss him dearly and there will be a empty place at Kaba without him and his dedication to his employees. My thoughts and prayers to his family, you were blessed to have such a kind man to call your husband, father , and grandfather. He loved you all dearly and his family meant everything to him. I will think of him every morning and will miss him. God bless you John Allen! Thank you for taking time out of your day for me.

I was deeply saddened to hear of John's passing. We grew up almost across the street from each other in Plymouth. Most of the neighborhood kids would gather in the Allen's backyard for basketball, softball and other games. I can remember the great climbing tree, too. Although I hadn't seen John in many years, I still retain fond memories of childhood times together. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.

I never had the pleasure of meeting John in person. We have done business via telephone for a little over 2 years.
He was truly a pleasure to work with as a client, and we often drifted off into conversation about our families, politics, sports, etc.
John was one of the GOOD GUYS in this world! I will miss him!

I always enjoyed John's quiet demeanor. All kinds of crazy things would be going on but John would we sitting back, smiling, taking it in and absorbing it all. Pat, Jim and the family---share his calm approach in the days ahead and realize how much he has given to you, how much it is worth, and how lucky you are.

I offer my most sincere condolences to Johnny's family. He was a wonderful person and will be missed by all who knew him.
My sisters and I grew up next door to Johnny's family. I knew him until I finished college and headed off to life. I was four years older, but knew him well during our youth. I only saw Johnny a few times after college since we moved far away. My wife and I last saw him at the funeral of another Country Club Village person we grew up with.
I wish John's family the best for the future and will pray for them.

Dear Pat and Jim,
Memories of specific dates, times and events may fade or fail; but one thing does not...feelings. Whether at the DU house or elsewhere after graduation, cheerful warmth every time I was around John is the feeling I remember. I cherish that. May the peace that passes all understanding be in each of your hearts during this time of transition and always as you, too, remember John.

Pat, Jim and families, my heart is broken, and I am so sorry for your loss. I have a special place where I hold the memories of the fraternity days and John, which include the infamous "Turkeys" basketball team (with every game (and loss) preceded by a cigar, beer and Turkey dance); fishing at the coast; best dog ever, "Fat Snake", and a thousand others. John was one of the good guys whose memory I hold fondly. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
