Tribute & Message From The Family

Dodgeville – Ethel Madora Hutchinson, age 93, of Dodgeville, passed away early Thursday morning, April 11, 2013 in her sleep at Bloomfield Health and Rehab Center in Dodgeville. She was born on January 12, 1920, the daughter of the late Albert and Beulah (Hoege) Wendt. She has many fond memories of her childhood with her siblings and days on her Grandma's farm near Baraboo. Ethel graduated from Reedsburg High School. She was courted by Sidney Hutchinson and they were married on an Easter Sunday, April 13, 1941 in Madison. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage until Sidney passed away on April 13, 2005. They are once again gliding in each others arms dancing to their favorite waltzes.

Ethel had many interests, she had a passion for her family, and so many will always cherish memories of their Grandma and Aunt Ethel. She loved to sew, not only for herself but others, and for many years Sidney and Ethel owned Hutchinson's Lettering in Madison. Gardening, flowers, children, cooking, fishing, baking, puzzles, cards and fixing things were some of her passions, she would always have a pot of coffee on with fresh baked goods. Most of their married life they lived in Madison until moving to Waupaca in 1978, Lone Rock in 1985 and then Dodgeville In 1999.

Ethel is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Bob Alfred, of Ridgeway; three grandchildren, Brad (Lisa) and their son, Brady, of Barneveld, Dustin (Inger) and their new daughter, Cheyenne Madora, born April 17, 2013, of Dodgeville and Haley Alfred, of Madison. She is further survived by her sister, Edith Ladd, of Gainesville, Georgia and sister-in-law, Audrey Wendt, of Baraboo, many dear nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sidney, her sisters, Mildred, Gertrude and Betty, her brothers, Harry, Raymond, George, Herb and Walter, their spouses, Joan, Fran, Helen, Dorothy, Walter Ladd and Don, nieces, Lynn, Marsha, Kristine and nephew, Nick.

Private family services will be held in honor of Ethel, when the sun is shining and the flowers are blooming. Memorials in Ethel's name can be made to the Alzheimer Association or the Iowa County Humane Society.

A very special thank you to the staff and our friends at Bloomfield Health and Rehab, they took wonderful care of both Sidney and Ethel, treated them with respect and kindness. We will always have special memories of our visits with Mom and Dad and the many special people we have met over the years. Also we thank those of you who have made special trips to visit Mom, sometimes I know you could just hold her hand when she napped, but it was very much appreciated.

I get comfort knowing you are with so many you have missed over the years, you and Dad are always with me, until we meet again, Jeanne XOXOX
