Dear Kay Trombat and family, I am so deeply saddened by the news of Mr. Trombat's passing. He was such a great principal. He was one in a million and Willow Woods has not been the same since he retired. I remember one Father's day at Metro Beach with my family. We ran into Kay and Ben on the playground with their grandchildren, and my older kids helped play with their little ones. We had nice conversation, and I was so happy to see a wonderful, loving, couple enjoy their day. Both you and Kay hold a special place in my heart and feel blessed to have known you. May you rest in peace. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Robert & Karen Martellaro, and family

Dear Trombat Family, I want you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Ben hired me eight years ago at Willow Woods. He called me while I was away on my honeymoon to let me know I got the job. He left a 7 minute message on my voicemail, and I saved it for years and listened to it every so often. He was so caring and taught me a lot. I often went to him crying that first year, as soon as I walked in he would tell me to "quit crying, it's going to be okay." What do you know, he was right. It has all turned out okay! I still think about him often. I am thankful I got the chance to know him. I will always remember him. Rest in Peace Ben. Love, Rose Petty

Our sympathy, thoughts and prayers to you Kay and your entire family. Ben was a terrific example for our two daughters as well as a friend. We will never forget how Ben took care of Amy when she was afraid to go to school. Patty was fortunate to have Kay and Ben as teachers. I was excited to be on the PTCO and work with Ben. He always was positive about anything we wanted to do as long as it was good for the kids. Thank you Ben for being the special person you are and a great leader and example for many. God Bless You!

Mr Trombat epitomized the moniker "Gentle Ben." He truly valued the children and their needs as students and people. May God bless Kay and the family as they mourn his passing. But, may they take solace in knowing he is celebrating Christmas with Jesus this year!

Dear Kay & Family, After Haitema Elementary's closure Mr. Trombat helped all of us (teachers, kids, parents) feel welcome and safe, no easy task when a neighborhood school is shut!! Always unflappable and available, he trusted teachers to do their best. Kids were always his number one priority. My heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather. May happy memories of him remain throughout your lives

I have a memory of my daughter standing there holding Ben's hand waiting for me to pick her up from kindergarten. I found myself caught up in a painting project and forgot to get her from school. The office called and when I got there, the parking lot was empty except for those two standing outside in front of the school chatting away like old friends. It gave me such peace knowing he was there for my children. Rest in peace, dear Ben. You touched many lives. Kay and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Trombat was a very kind, caring Principal to our boys, and a great leader to our PTCA at Willow Woods in the early 90's. He educated not only the children, but us as parents as well. We have many wonderful memories of Halloween evenings, Christmas sing-a-long nights and other events. He made a permanent mark on the hearts and minds of many. May he rest in peace.

Dear Kay and Family,
You are in my thoughts and prayers! Ben was one of my mentors and friends in W.C.S. I could always ask him about a problem and he offered realistic-practical solutions.Ben would never get rattled and was a master at "Doing the right Thing" for kids! Condolences to all. Ray Sisung
