Linda Miller, age 77, of Searcy, Arkansas, a lifelong resident of White County, died Friday, March 18, 2016. She was born in the Plainview community, near Judsonia, on July 5, 1938, the youngest child of Emmett and Maude Marsh Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; Leon, Emmett Jr., Neil, Edward, and Jimmie, and four sisters; Eloise Joyner, Carnell Gasaway, Jane Murdaugh, and Mildred Douglass.
She is survived by her longtime business associate Phillip Pyeatt who in later years was a close companion, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Linda graduated from Judsonia High School in 1955. At the age of 19, she went to work at Searcy Insurance and Investment Company, which became Pyeatt and Company in 1974, and later purchased an ownership interest in the business. She continued her insurance career for a total of 58 years.
She was a pioneer of women in the insurance business in White County and Arkansas. In 1978, she received the Charlotte Patterson Memorial Award which is annually awarded by the Independent Insurance Agents of Arkansas to honor a professional insurance woman who has served the insurance industry with leadership, dedication, loyalty, and outstanding contributions and service to her community.
She was a "by the rules" employer with a strong work ethic who expected everyone who worked with her to work as hard as she did. A longtime member of Judsonia Church of Christ, she was devoted to her family, friends, church, and work. She was a world traveler and an avid Arkansas Razorback basketball fan.
The family would like to thank Unity Health/White County Medical Center, Dr. Ryan Koch, Dr. Cheryl Payne, and Dr. C. E. Ransom for their medical expertise and care; and her personal caregivers, Susan Miller and Barbara Barnes, and special friends who assisted with her care.
