Abigail Prescott Fearon, 81, of Madison died on November 30. She was born in New York in 1935, the daughter of Thayer August and Helen Jenkins Jaccaci.

Gail was a graduate of Shipley School (1953) and McGill University (1957). She was married to John Fearon in London in 1958 and, with their two daughters, moved in 1963 to New York City.

Gail was a compassionate, dedicated, and respected advocate for children and her community's wellbeing. She was a founding member of The International Preschools in New York and served as treasurer for 40 years. Gail and her family moved in 1966 to Madison where she had grown up. She was editor of the Shore Line Times and served on the Madison Board of Selectmen from 1970 to 1972. She enjoyed a 30-year career at Yale University, as business manager at the Drama School and later as director of funds management at the Budget Office.

Gail had a lifelong love of gardening, reading and crossword puzzles. Friends and family will miss her wonderful, often irreverent, sense of humor, and her love and devotion to her daughters, grandchildren, and community.

Gail is survived by her brother August Jaccaci, daughters Penny Fearon and her husband, Omar Barahona, Sue Fearon and her husband, Grant Johnson, stepdaughter Carol Snow, and two grandchildren, Claire and Roman.

A service will be held at noon at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Advent, 81 East Main St., Clinton on Saturday Dec 17. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Advent, E.C. Scranton Memorial Library, and the Madison Land Conservation Trust.
