Ada Mae Becnel Ritzmann passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, November 19, 2017. She was 90 years old. Beloved wife of the late Frank Joseph Ritzmann. Loving mother of Julie Millard (Earl) and the late Carl Dennis Ritzmann (Nancy). Grandmother of Gerald Millard (Elizabeth), Leslie Millard, and Heather Becnel (Brandon). Great-grandmother of Weston, Eila, and Caleb Millard. Sister of Jerry Becnel (Eva), Herbert Becnel (the late Emily), and the late Benoit Becnel, Annette Scioneaux, and Henry Becnel. Daughter of the late Placide and Antonia Becnel. Also survived by her sister-in-law, Donna Ritzmann, and her son, Stephen Ritzmann (Jill), and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Ada was a native of Reserve and was a resident of Marrero for over 70 years. She was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Marrero. She was a homemaker up until the passing of her husband in 1978, when she proudly became the Site Manager of the Council on Aging in Marrero. She retired after 28 years of service, and continued to volunteer up until recently. She was honored with the Order of St. Louis Medallion from the Archbishop of New Orleans for her outstanding service to the community and her faith. She was dearly loved by so many and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, LA 70457 are preferred. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at IMMACULATE CONCEPTION, 4401 Seventh Street, Marrero, on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 12:00 noon.
