The sun has set on the life of a great and devoted Christian, mother, aunt, grandmother, friend and professional. Ada Pearl Talton (Brown), or "Pearl", as she was affectionately called, was born on September 6, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Jessie Brown and James Brown, both of whom hailed from Pittsburgh. At an early age Pearl married Wilbert S. Talton Sr. of Pittsburgh.

Pearl attended Schenley High School in Pittsburgh, PA. After losing her husband Wilbert at the age of 22, she used her faith and her commitment to serving God to dedicate herself to raising her five children.

She worked at western Psychiatric hospital over 38 years of Pittsburgh PA, where she retired. In her retirement, Pearl continued to impact children and adults in her community by becoming a volunteer at the Hill House Association, a well-known community center committed to an integrated approach to providing social services to the underserved. Pearl enjoyed politics. She served two terms as a Committee Woman in the Hill District of Pittsburgh. She also served as a campaign coordinator during the 1992 and 1996 elections.

She also loved to sing. She enjoyed group trips with girlfriends and church friends. She truly enjoyed reading the bible and spending time in prayer.

At the forefront of her heart was serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She also insisted her children worshipped regularly. She was baptized at an early age at New Light Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess.

Pearl was predeceased by several loved ones. These include her son Robert A. Talton, sisters Dorothy Brown-Jones, Sarah Brown-Walker, Selena Brown, Mary Brown-Davis, Mildred Brown and Mary Davis. She was also preceded in death by her brother Joseph Reynolds, grandson James Talton, Jr., granddaughter Erica Talton Moore and many others.

Equally as important, she leaves behind several loved ones who will always hold her close to their hearts. These include her sons Wilbert S. Talton Jr., James M. Talton Sr. and his wife Rachel of Ohio, Leonard Talton and his wife Gina of Los Angeles, CA, Carol Ann Talton of Detroit. She also leaves behind grandchildren Elizabeth Talton, Tina Talton Higgins, Brian M. Talton, Sr., Robert "Chip" Talton, Shawn Talton, and Romique Talton and Dijon Talton, nephew Mitchell Brown and his wife Beckie, nieces Jackie Hardin and her husband William, Debra Johnson and her husband Heath. Pearl is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, relatives, loved ones and friends.

Pearl's home-going celebration will be held at 1:00 PM on June 20, 2015. Services will be held at Joshua Mortuary at 3150 E Palmdale Blvd., Palmdale, CA 93550.
